Trip #8; But Was It Great? A WDW MAYcation with a side of LegoLand & Celebration, FL!

Thanks Shelly I need all the prayers I can get! I knew you would understand!;)
It's weird b/c it's hard to talk to my best friends about it b/c they've never been in this situation.

You're welcome! :goodvibes

Great update!

Your dinner at BRG looked really good, I never really considered eating there but I may have to re-think our ADRs :lmao:

Sorry you weren't feeling great, but glad to hear that SAB was not a zoo for once!

Your photos are really great :thumbsup2

We just love BRG!! And they don't take ADR's so that's a plus too, no rushing around to get there! I definitely recommend giving it a try. :thumbsup2

Thanks, glad you're enjoying the pics!

I like the pics with the panoramic setting!! Very cool!!!

Thanks Shawna! :)

Mmm, the food looked good. I really have to stop reading trip reports when I'm hungry. LOL

Pool time looked nice too - glad it wasn't too crowded and I hope you got to feeling better by morning.

That's really pretty Shelly! :thumbsup2

Sounds like a great and relaxing evening other than you not feeling so well at the end. I hate that you got sick on vacation. That is always the worst! That happened to me about 3 years ago at Myrtle Beach. I was so sick that I couldn't even leave the room for 3 days! :sad2: I felt like I ruined the trip for DH and DD and it just seemed like such a waste of money to have even gone. It really bites! I feel for you. At least you were able to keep moving and somewhat enjoy the rest of your trip though.

Food looks good at BRG, especially the nachos! I agree with you though on the beer... :crazy2:.

I am so glad you guys got in some quiet pool time. It didn't look very crowded either, and that slide looks so fun! DH and I would've gone down that a few times too ;)!

ETA: I meant to tell you that I thought the panoramic pics were really cool! There is also some kind of photo editing tool that you might already have on your computer that will 'stitch' pictures together so you can have a full cirlce panoramic shot. I've never done one, but I have seen them and they are REALLY neat!

Looks like you had a great day a DHS. :cool1: TSM and RNR are our favorites. Love your pics along the boardwalk. I definately need to explore there sometime. The pool looks fun after all the heat. Sorry you weren't feeling well.

Hello  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. It is 100 degrees here! :scared1: :faint: We are trying not to melt!!

Happy Anniversary

Thanks!

I know, I always end up hungry when I'm doing my updates. :confused3

It was nice at the pool that night. :goodvibes

Unfortunately I wasn't feeling any better the next morning. :sad2:

Yeah, it was a real bummer to not be feeling well on vacation. Luckily it wasn't anything too bad though. Sounds like you had something pretty bad to keep you down for 3 days in MB. :sad2:

The pool was nice that evening. And the line for the slide was very short!

Oh that sounds cool! I'll have to look for that editing tool. :thumbsup2

It was a great day at DHS!! ::yes:: Of course anytime I'm at DHS I am having a great day!

Thanks! We just love spending time on the BW. It's definitely worth a trip over there even if you are staying somewhere else.

The pool was quite refreshing that night!

Hi Shelly!:wave2: Sorry I have been MIA this past week. We just got back today from nearly a week at our lake house in NH! We had a blast, and it was very relaxing! Now I'm all caught up with your TR!

Jack is getting so big! I can't believe how big he has gotten...I remember when you got him!

It looks like you guys had a great night at the BW! I love it there at night especially. So sorry to hear you weren't feeling well...being sick on vacation stinks! I had to call a doctor to come to the resort for me a few trips back...turns out I had strep throat right in the middle of our vacation!:sad2: Luckily I was able to get some medicine for that, and felt better within a day or two.

Looking forward to more!

I'm finally here! I have so much to comment on...

First of isn't amazing how little sleep everyone needs on departure day?! 3 hours at the airport, sounds like fun to me but I know it was probably just making everyone antsy! I can't believe how crowded Epcot was that night! You're right a long day mixed with crowds and no food = very cranky people!

The next morning looks like it started off great! Kicking the day off with Soarin' is a wonderful way to start. :thumbsup2 Sorry about the kid at Kona, that would have made me crazy! That is a big pet peeve of mine, I understand kids are curious and they will do things they aren't supposed to but as a parent its your responsibility to watch them so that when that does happen you are there to stop it. Also, the fact the CM had to say something would have been mortifying to me.

I love your Poly pics, we have never stayed there but we sure want to it's so beautiful! I can't say the same about your BC pics, what a mess! I can't believe what a hassle it was for you, things like that manage to change a vacation no matter how much you try to overlook it. Glad that you were able to get some resolution to it, and good for you and your DH for speaking up during and after!

Your meal at the Garden Grove looked really good, those desserts all look amazing! I'm adding it to my must try list. I love the look on your youngest DS in the picture of your eldest DS and his bday dessert!

The Swan & The Dolphin offer teacher discounts?!? Thanks for that bit of info! That pool looks very inviting I don't blame your DS for wanting to take a dip ;)

Thanks for putting up the Lego Land Review, it looked very interesting to me before. After reading your review I would only considering visiting if my son becomes a big lego fan in the future. I laughed at your Lego rewards card story, I don't understand why they wouldn't take it either! Have you guys been to the lego store here in NY? I walk by it all the time since it's right by my job, and it always makes me think of DTD.

Celebration looks like such a nice small town, but where were all the people?!?! Those houses look so nice, I love the one with the wrap around porch!

I have a few more posts to go in order to be caught up but I'm almost there!

Hey Lauren! :goodvibes Glad you had a nice time at your lake house. Sounds like fun!

I know, my baby puppy is growing up.

We love the BW at night too! Such a fun and exciting, yet relaxing atmosphere.

Luckily I didn't get that sick on vacation. I was wondering what I would do if I got really sick and needed to see a doctor.

I was pretty dang cranky that first night! :scared1:

Kicking off the day with Soarin & Kona was awesome! :cool1: But yes, the little kid at Kona. :furious: Why don't parents make their kids behave??? Like you said, I would have been mortified if a CM had to correct my child!

I love your Poly pics, we have never stayed there but we sure want to it's so beautiful! I can't say the same about your BC pics, what a mess! The Poly is absolutely wonderful. :cloud9: I can't wait to stay there again!

Yes, the BC was not quite everything we dreamed it would be. Quite the opposite actually. What a hassle!

Your meal at the Garden Grove looked really good, those desserts all look amazing! I'm adding it to my must try list. I love the look on your youngest DS in the picture of your eldest DS and his bday dessert!

The Garden Grove was a lot of fun! And a nice change. I know, DS10 looks hilarious in that pic! :rotfl:

Yep - check it out! https://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/dreamsres/sd.cfm

LegoLand is a must do for any little Lego lover! :thumbsup2 Nope, never been to NYC. We hope to take a long weekend there sometime over the next couple of years. I'm sure DS will want to go to the Lego store!!

Celebration looks like such a nice small town, but where were all the people?!?! Those houses look so nice, I love the one with the wrap around porch!

Celebration was very quiet. There were people around, but it wasn't crowded by any means. :confused3 Maybe lots of people were inside because it was so dang hot!! :faint:

Hope you get all caught up soon! :)

Jack is soo big! I still had him pictured as a puppy.

I'm considering trying BRG on our next trip. The dining options at DHS are just so terrible. We haven't tried Mama Melrose or Hollywood & Vine yet. Neither one is very appealing to me.
DH loves Sci Fi, but I like to plan 2 days at every park.

Becca,..have you been to the 50s prime time cafe? I know the jokey stuff gets on some peoples nerves, but it's never been too much for us..and my kids (and me) are pretty nervous about stuff like that sometimes. We all think they have the best food at DHS...none of us cared for Sci Fi very much...not sure why--maybe because my kids were small and they were kinda freaked out by all of it..

Well, he still has the energy of a little puppy!! :faint: :rotfl:

I definitely recommend BRG. It wouldn't be too far of a side trip from DHS to go get dinner. We like Mama Melrose too. The food is good, but the service is super slow. We went to Hollywood & Vine once and just thought it was okay.

Hello

How was everyone's weekend? Ours was HOT!! :faint: I think we hit 100 on Saturday. Crazy. Getting a big cool down today, high only in the mid 80's!! :cool1: Right where I like it!

It was hot here too but not 100!- phew. It was mid 90s
Today mid 80s- PERFECT it should be like that all week :cool1:
Sitting around today waiting for my iphone to be delivered!:banana:
I am so excited for this is my first smartphone.
My DS15 got one for his b-day. I was a little jealous.
My DH had an upgrade for his phone but didn't need one (he has a blackberry for work) and got it for me!!!

I think it has been HOT everywhere. :faint: Glad a lot of us are getting a little break from the intense heat this week. Mid 80's is perfect. :goodvibes

Congrats on your new phone!! :cool1:

Day 5: Wednesday May 2

Unfortunately I did not wake feeling any better. Much worse in fact. My throat hurt and I was just feeling crappy. :sad2: The plan was to hang at the BC this morning, swim, have lunch, and head to MK after lunch. We pretty much still did all that. Just at a much slower pace and we didn't make it to MK until about 2:30.

I'm really not sure what exactly we did all morning. I guess not much because I have no pictures! :upsidedow Apparently we laid around hoping I would get to feeling better. Around 11:00 or so we went down to the Marketplace and got some lunch.

DS10 got a pizza lunchable from the cooler. He likes his lunchables heated up, so he prepared his tiny pizzas and we heated them up in the microwave. DS13 got a regular kids pizza. I got a salad. And DH got a Turkey Sandwich I believe. We got some Doritos and maybe a few other small things.

The whole lunch cost us around $25. DS enjoyed his lunchable as usual, but the rest of us weren't really impressed with our food. Although the kids did enjoy the birds joining us!

We went back up to the room and I was feeling even worse after that nasty salad. I wasn't ready to head to MK for the rest of the day yet. The kids wanted to swim. I told them there was no way I would handle the craziness of SAB today. And they were fine with going to the quiet pool. I was just wanting to lay out in the sun and see if that helped me feel a little bit better.

So we grabbed the pool noodles and stuff and headed out. If you turned right out of our room door and then left there was a single elevator right there and it took you right down to the door beside the quiet pool. Very convenient!

The quiet pool was very quiet. A nice welcome change. ::yes::

And this is where I perched myself. Only getting up once to take a few pics and to remind the kids that this was the 'quiet pool'! :rotfl:

As you can see I felt so bad that I was wearing the same clothes from the night before. :faint:

The kids had a blast in the pool!

We stayed for about an hour or so and believe it or not the sun was doing me some good! Funny, had I felt like that at home I would have been on the couch not wanting to do anything all day. But, I was now ready to head to MK! So we went upstairs and got ready to head out.

Up Next: Finally Going to the Magic Kingdom!

Ugh! It's no fun being sick on vacation!
Glad the sun did you some good and you were feeling better.
The quiet pool looked fantastic- it's great being the only ones there.
We never even saw the quiet pool when we were there it was all about SAB.
