It's not as easy as you think and even if you are looking for just the perks, they really don't exist as much as they used to. I have been in the travel business for 16 years and I have seen many things change. I was laid off from my agency due to the stock market crash in Nov. of 08, they rehired me Dec. 09. What a difference a year makes, the pay is terrible, the hours are terrible, the customers are terrible and you make very little commission and if you do get to work for a good agency, you have monthly goals and if you don't hit them you are reprimanded and eventually fired.

If you have never worked with the public before I don't recommend it. I love my job, but I also know how to read and handle people.

If you are looking for travel perks, don't do it. Just wait for a sale, they do come along. You have to have a good following in order to make money too. Alot of people go on the internet now, unless you work for a company that is very well known.

I wish you luck, but even if you did find an online degree, you really need to know alot of Travel Product information and not just Disney.

Are you looking for on-line courses or do you want to attend college? I went to Niagara University in NY and majored in Travel Tourism. There are many things you can do in the travel industry besides being a travel agent. Travel Agents are few and far between now. Many airlines and other service providers aren't paying the commissions they used to as the general public is becoming more travel savvy and using the internet to book direct.

The Travel Tourism program at Niagara is awsome! They offer classes in hotel managment, meeting planning, working in and with convention bureaus. I'm sad that I graduated so long ago. I'd love to take some of the classes that are offered there today.

Hope this helps you out!

One of the biggest travel schools in chicago closed its doors years ago when they figured out what was happening to the business.

Just wondering what's so terrible about the people? Are they just so demanding? Never satisfied? Difficult?:confused3
