Tried to Book ADR at new T-Rex & Got Reprimanded by the CM

I really didn't think T-Rex would be open in time for our trip Oct. 19th, I was seriously hoping to get out of eating there, but if my nephew sees that place, we are gonna have to go there. So when I saw the Oct. 14th open date, I figured I try for an ADR. I told the CM that I saw it was opening Oct 14th and could I make an ADR? BIG sigh from her and she says "Well, you did NOT read that date on an offical Disney website". So I said "No I didn't, does that mean is it not opening on Oct 14th?" she said "I have no offical information on the T-Rex Restaurant." :rolleyes: so I said I said, "So you don't know when it is opening or when I might be able to make an ADR?" and she said "There is no official information out about T-Rex." Ummmmm, okey dokey, thanks alot. Sheesh.
 
I am confident the info we have on the DIS is correct and the restaurant will open on 10/14.

Some Dreams Agents have tried to make ADR's for clients at this restaurant and have run into a similar 'attitude' from CMs - I have just advised them to keep trying. We know from experience that the floor agents don't always get the most updated info.

Doesn't their response cause you to invoke the magic words, "May I speak to your supervisor?" Make sure you have their correct name before you begin the incantation.

Believe me, I wasn't doubting the info John! I don't doubt it will be opening Oct. 14th, I just thought I'd let you know it hasn't filtered down to the reservation CM's yet .... officially :rotfl:

I'll keep trying. I'm going to have to squeeze this in and there are only a couple times I can fit it in so I want to be sure to get an ADR.

I am sure they are all aware and have been told not to book it unti lthey are given official word!:surfweb: How appalled they must be to give dumb responses like "we have no offcial word yet..."

I had a very similiar situation happen when I called to book my WL photopass session. The CM was really good about it though. I told him I wanted to book a session at the WL. He didn't think WL was doing sessions. He said, "Let me guess. You heard that on the DIS." I told him that yes, I had, but I had also called the GF photopass to confirm and was told to call back on this day. He put me on hold and when he came back, he said, "well, you learn something new everyday." He turned out to be a great CM- he admitted to me that he lurks the DIS.

WaltD4Me-Sorry you got a CM that didn't go the extra step for you and learn something new that day. Disney's loss, IMHO.

:sad2: You aren't the only one. When I saw the opening date October 14th, I called Disney to make reservations for our upcoming December trip. Maybe, I had the same CM.:rolleyes: She was pretty rude too. After I asked if they were accepting reservations for the new T-Rex restaurant the line went silent. I thought the call got dropped. So, I said. "Hello?" She abruptly told me they aren't accepting reservation and don't know when they will. Then, the line went silent again. No, do you need any other reservations. Just silence. So, I finally said, "Okay, I'll try back". No have a magical day NOTHING! Really weird. It is 50/50 with me when it comes to the CMs on the phone. Some are VERY helpful and others inept. :headache:

:rolleyes1 All we can do is keep trying. The restaurant looks amazing. I just hope DD5 and DS2 will sit through a meal there. DD5 sometimes gets scared at RFC.

I wonder why they are being so weird about T-Rex?

I tried calling again just for the heck of it about 6pm and the CM was nicer, but still tight lipped and quick to change the subject. You could tell she knew about it, but wasn't saying.

I have been calling all week making some changes to other ADR's and I have gotten EXCELLENT CM's everytime. I was really impressed, they were all super nice and well informed, I guess just not when it comes to T-Rex. :confused3
 
Maybe they're trying to dicourage people from going there?!

It's such a shame when you get a grumpy CM :sad2:
 
It's also possible that this restaurant will not be in the Disney reservation system, like the Big River Grille.

:idea: You might call the other T Rex in KC. If you ask nicely, and get a sympathic manager, he/she might at least have a clue or a contact number for the DTD location.
 
Well, I am glad I got a very helpful CM today. I tried to book an ADR at the T-Rex restaurant. She told me it was not in their reservation system yet, and that it was indeed scheduled to open on the 14th of October. She put me on hold and did some checking. She said the contracts apparently have not been finalized yet. At this point, it is unclear if Disney will be booking the ressies, or if T-Rex will be doing it directly (as told to me by the CM). She did say T-Rex and Yak & Yeti have the same owners.

You CAN book Yak & Yeti through the Disney Dining line. So, I am hoping T-Rex is the same.
