I try to believe that I'm an intelligent person, but I don't understand...

I just tried to book the 7for5 with two seperate cms and was quoted a price of over $3000.00 which was over $600 more than I had expected to pay using information from mousesavers. Mousesavers said $589adult (x2)=1,178.00
$311junior(I have a 10yrold)=$311.00
$250child(x4)=1,000
in total=$2,485

On the phone they kept saying, well that's for two rms for 7 nights. And I said, "yeah, but I want the 7for5" and they said yes the price was over $3000.00????
I think I'm being charged extra because we need two rooms, but I just don't get it, cause if each pkg price includes r00ms then it shouldn't matter.

Your booking 2 separate rooms? Is that correct? If so, the packages are based on adult double occupancy.

*nod* Basically, 2 rooms = 4 adults.

Take the difference between adult and "junior" (same ticket price as adult, the difference is the the hotel cost): 589-311 = 278. 278 * 2 = 556. The remaining extra few dollars is the additional sales tax.

Did you price out what a cabin at Ft. Wilderness might be? You would loose the extra bathroom but there is a kitchen. It is hard for bigger families.:D

I'm so excited to see someone having tried this. I just started thinking about a trip for next year and got excited about this 7 for 5 deal. We have 4 kids and would also need two rooms.

Can you try to book with one adult and kids in each room. What happens if you try to make seperate reservations and try to link them together later? Does that make a difference. My guess is they're charging more because they would assume there would be kids alone in one room?

I'd love to hear what happens! Thanks for posting this.

Amy

I don't know if this helps, but we just booked the 7 for 5 today for a family Grand Gathering, and I had to book 4 separate rooms! To calculate the cost in advance, I went to www.waltdisneyworld.com and selected "Book a Package" under the 2004 Dreammaker package. You then have to "book" each room, one at a time and indicate exactly who would be in that room. For example, our first room had 2 adults and 1 child under 10,our second room had 1 adult and 1 child over 10, etc. You have to price each one out separately online. Make sure you only input your trip dates for the first 5 days, so the system does not calcuate the 2 free days. Basically, you are pricing a 5 day package. You can edit the package the system gives you to select the type of view and even change hotels to check out pricing. This will give you a total before tax.

When I called to make the reservations today, the numbers were right on target. The reservations agent gave me a total that included taxes, and it was just the right amount above what the online system gave me with no taxes. Does that make sense?

At least you can get a pretty realistic idea of the pricing this way!

Another idea would be to skip the package and rent points from a DVC owner. They are about $10 per point I think. There is another board all about DVC.

OK, this is very easy to explain. The childrens and junior prices are for park admission only. The adult prices have the room figured in. They are assuming that children will be in the room with their parents. The extra money is for the second room since there are no adults in the room. If they only charged you the per junior and per child price, it would be like giving you a room for free if there were no adults in the room.

But how do they know that? What if we were planning dh in one room with boys and me in other with girls. All but one of our kids is under 9. I could understand if they were teenagers.

Like someone else said. To get the price I'd have to try booking my dh with 3 kids and then go a book myself with 2kids. Totally seperate. Then I'd get the price. But I don't know if that would be allowed??? It seems we are being shut-out of this price because of where they think I'll be sleeping.

I'd much rather share my spacious double-bed with my tiny 5 year old than with my 200lb (I love every inch, honey) hubby!

i just booked with 3 adults and 3 children and i asked what the price would be for 1 adult and 1 child in one room and 2 adults and 2 kids in the other. just tell the cm how the rooms are to be split and they should be able to price it like that.

Thanks for all your suggestions!

I think basically after all is worked out on paper, this pkg isn't the savings I thought it would be. We were planning on a 10day vacation--total WDW. But then I started thinking if this was big savings, then we'd do 7WDW and 3Universal.

I'm going to stick with initial plan and buy APs and pray for great codes and be pleased knowing that next years media is paid for and hence maybe a moderate hotel next time.

Besides, dh (bless his little boy soul) says he wants to stay at Disney whole 10days. "But,7days isn't long enough!!!"

I really need to learn more about DVC. I'm just not very trusting with strangers...so afraid I'll get ripped off.

yesterday at Pop Century using the 5/2 package. The prices seemed right on... $2132. There are 2 adults, 1 junior & 1 child. I didn't ask for any special configuration. I intially gave him our names & the kids birthdates & asked him how much 2 rooms at Pop Century would cost - I did ask how much an upgrade to the Silver plan would be but it was around $3800!!! Of course I still have reservations for HIFS too - so I'm not sure which one I'll end up choosing.
