Tricky Disneyland ticket question?

I asked this question before and now I can't find the link. I will be in Disneyland for 10 days. I can't find the best ticket price for us. I can't see where Disney sells anything longer than a 5 day hopper befroe you go to an AP. I will be staying at 2 Disney Hotels , the DLH for 5 nights and then the CG (using my DVC points ). I tried Mousesavers but no luck. I looked at an AP but 3/31 is a blackout date. I tried to find a broker that might have a special ticket but no luck. Thanks for the help.

I'm sorry, but what is the CG? If you are staying on property the entire time, don't they have a ticket you can purchase for your entire stay (like they do here in FL). Sorry I can't be of no other help - I have a pass that gets me into DL whenever I go, so I don't buy tickets.

OOPS!! I meant to write GC for Grand Californian!! I don't know if they have length of stay passes for DL. But they often aren't the best deal either.

7 and 8 day tickets are available. For pricing go to Disneyland.com. Act like you are going to book a reservation. Put in the dates you'll be there (it will effect the price, because there is a special from now until April 26). When the "offer" comes up, it will give you the cost for the hotel and tickets. The tickets will have a list of options, from 2 day to 8 day. I used random dates in Feb, and it was only $20 more for a 7/8 day then for a 5 day.

You mentioned that 3/31 is a blackout day. Is that the beginning of your trip? If so - you can buy a 2-day park hopper ticket for your 1st 2 days and then upgrade to an AP at the AP Office on Main Street. You will want to call DLR for the fine details, but this is an option for you.

Id just get a premium AP... you can already get Early Entry via hotel...

I would get an 8 day ticket. Getawaytoday has them. With the special everyone plays for the kids price tickets going on during your dates it would be cheaper than deluxe APs. If you want to go more days than 8, you can pay an extra $30 I think to get in on a black out day with a deluxe pass. Unless of course the black out day is the first day of your trip. You do not have to pay extra to get in the parks on a black out day if you are exchanging you voucher in for your pass on that day.

I'll arrive at DL on the 28th. If I got a 4 day hopper I wonder if I could upgrade to the Deluxe AP. I also think I get a $20 discount because I own DVC.
Upgrading Tickets

You can apply the value of an unused ticket or pass, or even a partially used one with days left on it, toward the purchase of a higher-priced pass, as long as you do it before your pass expires. For instance, if you buy a 3-Day Park Hopper and then decide on the third day of use that you'd rather have an Annual Pass, you can apply the value of the Park Hopper toward the Annual Pass. Discounted passes will be credited at the actual rates you paid. Yes, Disney can tell how much you paid. It's encoded on the pass. To upgrade a pass, go to any Guest Services window
The above is from Mousesavers.com So if I'm reading this correctly if I purchase a 5 day hopper for say $154 and on day 5 upgrade to an AP Disney credits me $154 towards the $230 price so I'd pay an additional $76???? And then I'd have an AP an no blackout date??? This seems like a great solution.

As long as the 31st is your only blackout date then yes, get the five day park hopper. Use the five day park hopper and then on April 1, upgrade it to a Deluxe AP. You do this right in the plaza area between DL and DCA at one of the ticket booths. As a DVC member your discount is actually $25 per ticket which really adds up. Also, log onto the DVC member website, you get other discounts around Disneyland too. I am using points for our stay at the DLH this June and have done it at the GCH as well. Its a great deal given the low points right now and the high prices at the hotel. You also won't have to pay that daily resort fee which will include internet access, healt club privilidges, parking and a newspaper. As a matter of fact we are doing this same thing with park hoppers to Deluxe Ap's for our 9 days at Disneyland in June when we are on points. Make sure you take your DVC card so you can get your discounts!
