Trick-Or-Treat & Birthday Sweets! Oct 2013 PTR *NEW* 11/4 TR Link Posted!

So excited for your tickets..really wish I got tickets from Sea World. Etickets are not so exciting..lol

Love the micheal costume idea...too funny, just remind him it would make for cute pics :)

Omg...no diaper bag I can only imagine. :) I think your bag is very cute and will work really well.

Aww too cute about the countdown

Yeah, I'm not big on Etickets...I love collecting tickets & stubs, especially for concerts, so maybe that's why I never do the Etickets, even for park stuff.

I am still pushing for Michael...not only would it be hilarious, it's economical! :thumbsup2

I'm SO excited to be done with the diaper bag in WDW! At least for awhile, until #2 comes along. :rotfl: I pared down to a much smaller backpack for our Tennessee trip (and that was even while Paxton was still in diapers), and I still didn't need all of that room. So I figured it was time to pare down even more to a smaller bag for just the essentials. Everything else (change of clothes, wipes, snacks, etc) can stay in the bottom of the stroller. I'm really happy to not be a pack mule in the parks anymore. :cool1:

Thursday October 24th

DS's 3rd birthday!! I can't believe we are nearly 3 years since this:

IMG_0081.jpg

Since his birthday was such a success last year on our 2012 trip, we are following pretty much the same formula this year. If it ain't broke and all...

It will be a pretty early morning again as we have a pre-park opening ADR for breakfast. Last year, it was still completely dark out as we made our way to the TTC and we were able to see the sun coming up over the train station...a magical way to start the day for sure! Then we will kick off the morning with an early entry into Magic Kingdom and Photopass pictures in front of the Castle.

Our breakfast is for 8:05 am at, where else, Crystal Palace!! We have a reservation for 9 people because it will be for everyone in our group to celebrate DS's birthday. This breakfast is a favorite for my parents (because my mom is obsessed with Winnie the Pooh), but I think it will be a first for my sister & her BF and for my in-laws.

After breakfast, we will spend the day doing all of the DS appropriate attractions! I have a feeling we will not be able to wait any longer, and no matter what time our breakfast ends, we will be headed to NEW FANTASYLAND!! We totally missed out on this last year because there were CM previews going on the whole week. Maybe we could have gotten in, but we never asked. :confused3

It might be too late after rope drop for Enchanted Tales With Belle, so although this is something we definitely want to do, it just might not be this morning.

If no ETWB first, I would imagine our first attraction of the day will be Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. Of course, DH, DS and I have ridden this attraction at Disney California Adventure, but it will be all new for the rest of the group. Plus, I'm SUPER EXCITED about the queue and finally seeing ERIC'S CASTLE!!

new-fantasyland-ariel.jpg

And of course, we will have to go check out Gaston's Tavern and maybe share a cup of LeFou's Brew! (Although we might be too full from breakfast...*cough*PUFFEDFRENCHTOAST*cough*).

newfantasylandgastons.jpg

I really just can't even wait to see all of this in person! I have seen so many pictures and read so many people's experiences in TR's that it gets me so excited to finally see it and experience it for myself! Hopefully I can drag DH away because I know he will want to spend all day there taking pictures, but we will have other things to see & do. Plus, it's only our first Disney day, we will have plenty of time to continue seeing New Fantasyland!

There's no real touring plan in mind for the day, we will just let DS lead the way with what he wants to do. :goodvibes Now that he is older and more familiar with some of the attractions, he will even be able to tell us, "I want to ride Pooh Bear/Pirates/Small World" etc.

Of course, in addition to riding attractions & seeing shows, we will be on the hunt for characters! Last year I think we met a total of 12 just on his birthday alone, so maybe we can top that number this year.

Since this day is a MK closes early for MNSSHP, I'm a little torn on whether or not we should attempt to leave for a break. If we don't, it will two days in a row without leaving for one since we will be in between resorts the day before while we are at US/IoA. I guess it will be one of those things we play by ear. I know in Tennessee he absolutely resisted the stroller nap, but he actually did okay for the day and crashed in the car on the way home. Hopefully he will at least take a cat nap in the stroller, but if the day before is awful with no nap, we will just have no choice but to leave for a nap this day. If that's what we end up doing, we may just go a little earlier than usual so we can get back to MK with a decent amount of time left before park closing at 7.

I thought about hopping to Epcot in the afternoon instead, but an early night might be what we need after two really early mornings. Plus, we will have to sing Happy Birthday and have cake!

I don't know if we will plan on cooking again this night or not. It might be easier just to order in or have food from the resort instead. As much fun as it was to cook last time, it might be too much for such a big group again.

Anyway, after cake, it will be time to turn in for the night. We will have to be up in the morning for rope drop, and we are planning a late night with a special event for DH & I!

Just as an aside, my Vera came in the mail yesterday and I'm happy to say, everything I will need to carry in the parks fits PERFECTLY! I'm really excited to use this bag in WDW. :thumbsup2

Looks like some great birthday plans! :thumbsup2

The detail they put into the new Fantasyland is just incredible and I'm sure you'll love it. You're probably right about your DH wanting to take a lot of pictures. The architecture there was made to be photographed. :rotfl2:

I hope that he does ok and takes a little nap in the stroller. If not that will definitely cut a short day even shorter. On that note, I'd definitely vote for getting food at the resort rather than cooking. Not only is it too many people, but wouldn't you rather have the time to enjoy his Birthday celebration without having to worry about getting food ready and then cleaning up?

Aww, I want to spend my birthday in Disney World! Sounds like it will be a fun day.

New Fantasyland is amazing! Even though the Little Mermaid rides are the same (atleast I'm pretty sure they are based on the video I saw of the DCA version) I think WDW got the better attraction just because of the castle. You are going to love it! Lefou's Brew is so good-I think you should try it even if you are full from your breakfast. haha

Sounds like DS is going to have a wonderful Disney birthday! And even better that you will finally get to explore New Fantasyland!

Hooray for everything fitting in your new bag

Oh my goodness - his birthday character pictures from last year are so perfect! Especially love Mickey holding up 2 fingers and the kiss from Cindy :goodvibes

I'm a big CP breakfast fan myself - and DBF listed that as one of his picks for this trip (without any prodding!) The food is yummy, the characters are fun (I'm a Tigger girl myself!) and I love the CP itself.

Hi!

Love the plans for DS' birthday, what a lucky boy.. perfect place to spend his birthday :goodvibes ... can't wait for you to see New Fantasyland, it's beautiful!

If DS ends up taking a stroller nap, I can definitely see us heading back to NFL just to wander around and let DH take pictures. :thumbsup2 Whether it's that day or another day, I know LOTS of pictures will be taken there!

Yeah, I'm starting to think it will be a better plan just to grab some food from the resort. I think they even have pizza delivery from there. Or if we are in MK long enough, getting a CS meal there. I think cooking for that big of a group is going to be more hassle and cleanup than anything else. And definitely want more time for celebrating!

I do too! Except that I have a summer birthday, and I'd rather not go when it's SO hot outside. :rotfl: At this point I'm the only one in our family of three that has never been anywhere near a Disney park on my birthday!

From the pictures I have seen of LM, it's the same ride, which is why I'm really more excited for the queue and the facade. The one in DCA is just boring! Lefou's Brew WILL be consumed at some point in the trip! I don't know if in the excitement of that first morning, I'll be able to delay it later no matter how stuffed I am from Crystal Palace. :goodvibes

:yay: I can't wait! There is SO much new stuff for us between US/IoA and Disney World that we will get to experience on this trip!

I'm pretty excited about the bag, I think it's going to work perfectly in the parks. :thumbsup2

We had a blast character hunting last year, and all of the characters we met were so excited about it being his birthday! I can't wait to do that with him again! The princess meet was definitely a highlight of the day, but I don't know if we will do it on his birthday or save the princess meet for our MNSSHP since I want to meet Rapunzel with Flynn Rider. As cute as the princess meet was though, I wouldn't be opposed to doing it twice!

CP has definitely become my favorite character meal since we started trying them out a few trips ago. I love getting into the park early and getting some really delicious food. We have had some of our best character interaction at the two breakfasts we have done there. I don't particularly love the Pooh characters but DS does and that's what counts!

He really is lucky! I think I am maybe overcompensating for never getting to go to Disney as a child, but who cares, we all have an amazing time while we are there! And I look forward to many many more magical trips with my kids to come. :goodvibes I am living vicariously through him in a way because while I would LOVE to spend my birthday in Disney World, it's just too darn hot in June for me. :lmao:

I can't wait for Fantasyland!! Who am I kidding, there will be lots of happy tears involved when I finally get to walk under those arches!!

I can't believe Paxton is about to turn 3! Where has the time gone!? I'm not ready formalex to turn 3 either but I have a few more months for that. Love all the pictures again :) good luck topping your character meet number this time! I never counted how many characters we met in one day before. I may have to do that this trip lol

Same here! I can't believe we are so close to 3 years already. I always dread it for awhile, but then I get excited about planning his birthday party & a Disney trip so I start looking forward to it more. :rotfl:

I usually don't count either, but I happened to that day. I don't even know if that was the day we have met the most characters! :lmao: But I just know it was so much fun, I'd love to top it. :thumbsup2

Ohhh, I forgot that this will be your first visit to New Fantasyland! That'll be so much fun for you!

I agree with the idea of getting take out. If you're thinking about pizza and if you like Chicago style deep dish pizza, I would highly recommend Giordano's. For some reason, this Chicago chain decided to branch outside of Chicago to only one city - Orlando. There's one location on South Apopka Vineland. I never miss a chance to eat their pizza whenever I'm in Chicago. Going to be in Chicago a week from now and already have plans for it!

I am so trying to put together a birthday trip this year in December. I so want to be IN WDW for my birthday just once! Plus, my father's birthday is only 6 days later, so hopefully a double birthday celebration!!

Ahh that early morning entry into MK is just so... perfect.

I'm so excited for you to see the Mermaid queue. Yeah, the ride's the same, but the "preview" oh so different.

You have to try LeFou's Brew. Share one if you must but you have to try it.

Haha, Mickey doing a "Peace" sign. So cute.

Since we were there right before it opened it feels like it has been around forever & we still haven't seen it!

Thanks for the recommendation. :thumbsup2 The resort has spotty food service options, so ordering from somewhere else will most likely be what we end up doing.

That would be awesome! I love the holidays at WDW. :santa: And a birthday/Christmas crossover in WDW is even better. Unfortunately my birthday is in the middle of June, so although I'd love to be in WDW for my birthday, it's just too darn hot!

I am addicted to getting into MK early now! We have to do it at least once a trip.

We got a lot of pictures of characters throwing up peace signs once they found out DS was turning 2! :lmao:

Same here girl! Party planning is fun and stressful at the same time. I think I've finally chosen a theme for Alex's 3rd bday. And it's not Disney *gasp*! He's in LOVE with Curious George lately so I think I'm going to go with that.

Haha well yeah definitely need to keep track now. I think I'll be doing that on this trip. I really hope to meet a ton of unusual characters this time since we are going to hit up Characterpalooza, the Unleash The Villains event and MNSSHP. Can't wait!

Curious George is a great theme!! Paxton likes it too, but definitely more into Cars than ever before. I briefly thought of doing a Thomas theme, but I think we may save that for next year (since we won't be going to WDW after  I like to get him a Disney birthday shirt from Stitcheroos so he can wear it in the parks too!). I think everyone I know was pretty shocked that his first birthday party was Elmo instead of Mickey Mouse or anything Disney related. :rotfl:

You should definitely be able to rack up your character count with all of those events!!!

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I subscribed to your PTR before my computer died on me, but then I got sidetracked when it happened. However, I have every intention of catching up! I'm posting this so I have no excuses!!!

Hey Kristy wanted to let you know I closed my other PTR....issues with co-author.....yeah. But I started a new one. So link is in my siggie if you'd like to go over. :goodvibes

Your plans for Paxton's birthday sound great! I can't believe he is going to be 3. I've been reading your PTRs/TRs since before he was born! I love the idea of starting the day at CP for breakfast. That might be a birthday tradition for our birthday boy soon :rolleyes1

I saw you said that you were compensating for not going to Disney as a child. I think we are doing the same thing LOL. Like you said, we all have a good time! Although I said I would never go to Disney in the summer again I don't think that is going to work. Gavin's birthday is in July and once he is in school we will be like everyone else and HAVE to go in the summer. Oh well. It's still Disney :thumbsup2

:welcome: Marissa! It's great to have you! But I know PTR's can be a little on the boring side. I really just like to use them as a placeholder until my TR is ready. :goodvibes

Uh oh! :scared: That doesn't sound so good! But it will probably be better for your trip anyway. :goodvibes I'll go check it out!

I can't believe it either! I know the feeling because I can say the same for you & your TR's. :thumbsup2 It was SO fun to kick off his birthday last year with the CP breakfast, so we figured why try to top it? Let's just repeat it instead!

Going as an adult, and now as a parent has totally changed how I view WDW. Yeah it was fun as a kid with my family but we didn't really start going until I was in the "hanging out with my family for a week sucks" age. So I'm determined to have DS hooked from a young age so he will appreciate and love it at ALL ages! I know what you mean about summer, I don't ever want to go at that time but I feel like eventually it will happen. Unless I can convince DH to give up Mardi Gras week. :rolleyes1

Yeah way better for our trip. Thanks for going over :) hopefully I can keep that PTR going this time lol
