Trick-Or-Treat & Birthday Sweets! Oct 2013 PTR *NEW* 11/4 TR Link Posted!

Universal/ IoA sounds like so much fun. With all the hype of WWoHP, I'm sure it has to be as great as everyone says it is. (I'm like you and haven't been there in years. I think my last visit was 2004:eek:)

The Transformers ride looks so cool! My younger brother went to the park for his senior trip a few months ago, and he said the Optimus figure they have is gigantic, and it just builds the excitement of the ride up.

I'd think so long as you take everything in stride you'll be able to see and do everything you really want in the one day. Especially since you'll have extra help with Paxton.

I remember reading about that gift card incident. :rotfl2: I will say, if you do want to get a cake from Publix, they're delicious. My DH and I had our wedding cake done at a local one, and even his super snobby aunt couldn't believe a supermarket had made it. :rotfl:

My mom is just recently an HP (movie only) nerd, and my dad has not the first clue about the franchise and even he enjoys it. So I'm sure it must live up to the hype! In case I haven't said it enough in this thread, I CAN'T WAIT!!!

That's another thing I'm excited to do, take pictures with Optimus & Bumblebee (my personal fav :lovestruc)! It's just so cool to me how they got those performers in those costumes and to look authentic!

Although the Publix cakes do look very cute, we saw that there is another Publix than the one we normally go to right down the street from Coldstone, so I think we will give it another try and use that gift card. Cakes from both places would cost the same, around $30 or so, and if we use the gift card it would only be $15! And we wouldn't have to buy ice cream separate. :thumbsup2 Thanks for the tip though, I'll keep that in mind in case someone walks off with our custom Cold Stone cake again! :rotfl:

We will definitely want to ride FJ more than once, so I really hope it's not too crowded that day.

Good to know about the stores, so thanks for that info. And oh my gosh, how could I forget to mention the butterbeer?!?! We will definitely be trying that!! I also would like to have dinner at Three Broomsticks if possible, just to say I ate there. :goodvibes

Oh, and another thing you could always try for Forbidden Journey...the locker area is a big pain, so when my sisters and I went, we actually used the lockers near the Dragon Challenge when we went on for the second time. :rolleyes1 It was a lot less crowded over there!

Three Broomsticks was cool too! Hopefully you'll get to eat there! Ahhh now you're making me want to go back. :rotfl:

Thanks for the tip on the lockers! I always hated that goofy locker system at Universal. I'm hoping we can avoid them altogether and just put our stuff under the stroller, but if either set of grandparents takes off with DS for awhile, that will be good to know. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure how long it will take us to see and do everything, but I'm hoping we can get most of the rides in that area of the park done in that extra hour.
It should be no problem. I'm not sure about the Ollivander's show, because we didn't do it, but we got there at regular park opening (after the resort guests had already been there an hour) and we got on Forbidden Journey in just maybe 5 or 10 minutes. You could probably ride it 2 or 3 times in that hour.

I know we will want to look in all of the shops and have some Butterbeer, but for first thing in the morning, I think we will just focus on attractions.
Definitely a good idea. That stuff will all be there later. :thumbsup2

There are quite a few new things over there for us to check out, mainly (and the one I'm SUPER excited about) Transformers the Ride!
:cool1::banana::woohoo::thumbsup2

I hope that we are able to use our onsite Express Pass for this one. I know when some rides have first opened, you weren't able to.
I hope so too. Either way, if you get there the first half hour or so that the park is open, it still should at least be manageable... I hope. :worried:

And also Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem. Just recently saw Despicable Me for the first time and thought it was adorable! DS likes it too, but we just read up on it that it actually has a height requirement because the seats move & DS is too short! There are stationary seats he can sit in though, so I know we will have to ride this at least twice so we can each experience it in a moving seat.
Ok, I totally didn't realize that you could go see it in a non-moving seat if your kid didn't meet the height requirement. I take back all the not so nice and PG things I said about Universal when I saw that they had a height requirement on that attraction. :rolleyes1

I'm just a little worried about only having one day to enjoy both parks, but that's why we are staying onsite so that hopefully the unlimited Express Pass will help us accomplish a lot! There are also quite a few things that while we do enjoy them, we could skip: Disaster, Rip Ride Rockit, the water rides at IoA, etc.
I think you'll be able to do everything you want to do and then some with Express Pass. :thumbsup2

Just don't skip Rip Ride Rockit!!!! I absolutely love it!!!

haha, I know what you mean about the Krusty Burger. I don't know why I'm so excited to try one when they really make them very unappealing on the show. :rotfl2: I also plan to have a Duff beer and flaming moe to go along with the buger. So, even if it's bad those might make up for it.

I don't think I've ever been this excited for a restaurant or food before. Normally I'm all about the rides and food is just sustenance to keep me going from one ride to the next. This is different.
I'm really interested to see how it is. I would think they'll have to do something to differentiate it from other theme park burgers, but maybe not. :confused3

I'm sure this place will be very popular... at least for a while. As bad as they make it look on the show, everyone still goes there, and here they are expanding their chain, so they've got to be doing something right. :rotfl2:

Favorite Krusty Burger moment: When Bart rubs a fish sandwich on the wall to show the level of grease is enough to turn the wall clear see-through. :lmao:
:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

OK, I just looked into the flaming moes and am very disappointed. It's $8 and Orange Soda. The cup has a spot in the bottom to hold a piece of dry ice which causes the "Flaming" effect. Not sure if I can spend $8 on some orange soda but you do get to keep the cup so it might be worth it just for the cup but was hoping for something a little tastier than plain orange soda.:confused3
For $8, you could probably make a few of your own at home. :rotfl2::lmao:

Hooray for US/IoA! We too will be spending a day there. We won't be staying onsite but I am pretty confident we will be able to fit everything we want to do in one day. And since you guys have early entry + EP I think you will do just fine!! I am not really a HP fan but I loved loved loved forbidden journey so I can't wait to hear how you like it! :dance3:

Great to hear! I'm sure once will not be enough. Hopefully we can ride once, do the Olivander's show, then FJ a couple more times. I just hope DS REALLY enjoys Flight of the Hippogriff because we will surely be taking him on that quite a bit while the other rides FJ. :rotfl:

Definitely a good idea. That stuff will all be there later. :thumbsup2

Yep, and I want to be able to take my time, not feel like I'm wasting the hour. I definitely want to buy something from Honeyduke's!

They were showing the movies on TV this weekend, and it got me sooooo excited for the ride! I'll have to watch all three to prep myself before heading down to Florida. :goodvibes

I hope so too. Either way, if you get there the first half hour or so that the park is open, it still should at least be manageable... I hope. :worried:

Gah, me too! A friend just came back and her husband and his brother waited in line for 4 HOURS :scared1: to ride Transformers! It was only the second day it was open, but still. From everything I could find online, it seems like it is an EP attraction, so fingers crossed.

Ok, I totally didn't realize that you could go see it in a non-moving seat if your kid didn't meet the height requirement. I take back all the not so nice and PG things I said about Universal when I saw that they had a height requirement on that attraction. :rolleyes1

Well, DH read that somewhere, but now I'm not finding it anywhere. :confused3 I remember when it was Hanna Barbera my sister was too scared to ride in the moving seat, so my mom sat in a non-moving seat with her. But I haven't been back since it was changed to Jimmy Neutron. It is pretty stupid to have a 40" height requirement on a ride aimed at their littlest visitors though.

I think you'll be able to do everything you want to do and then some with Express Pass. :thumbsup2

Just don't skip Rip Ride Rockit!!!! I absolutely love it!!!

I really hope so! DH and I didn't have too great of an experience on HRRR the last time we were there, but we might be convinced to give it another chance if we have the time.

All I can see different is a "special" sauce, which makes me weary. :rotfl: I know we will end up eating there though, if for nothing else than the gigantic Lard Lad Donut that DH spotted in the picture reviews of the place!

My mom said that last year at the end of October it was not crowded and they were fine without EP. I really hope it works to our advantage though. I wouldn't be worried if we were just doing 1 park, but 2 parks in 1 day seems daunting! But maybe it won't be as bad as I'm thinking. I can't wait to try FJ!!!

We got a little version of Mickey Mail the other day in the form of our MNSSHP tickets! :dance3: So it's officially official, we will be at the party on Sunday October 27th. It's pretty close to Halloween night, so I was worried it would sell out and wanted to make sure we had our tickets in advance. Hopefully it won't sell out, but if it does, we are still all set. :thumbsup2

IMG_2510.jpg

Lest you think those are just regular tickets, I also snapped a picture of the paper they came with. ;):rotfl:

IMG_2511.jpg

I'm really REALLY excited about the party, especially now that DS's Peter Pan costume is also in. I haven't tried it on him yet (it looks a little big :headache:) but I'll need to do that soon and hopefully he will actually let me take it off of him after. We still haven't made much progress on DH's Captain Hook costume, but we decided that the easiest backup costume would be John. Try as I might, I just couldn't convince him to be Michael in pink footie pajamas and carrying a teddy bear. :lmao:

In other news, I decided I needed a new park bag since I will not need as much "stuff" for DS to carry on my person in the parks. Before, I brought my big backpack mostly to hold the travel changing pad, diapers, and wipes. Now that we are totally diaper free, I won't need as big of a bag, and I thought a cross body might work better. When I initially searched, I found this Dooney & Bourke WDW Retro letter carrier. And I WANTED THAT BAG! It's absolutely adorable!!

7501002529599.jpg

But...then I started remembering what I needed to put in the bag, most importantly DS's autograph book. That just wasn't something I felt comfortable leaving in the stroller because I would worry about it being taken, or coming across a character when we are away from the stroller and missing out on an autograph. But the book is 8x8 and the bag is 9x8. Not gonna fit! And I was desperate, I asked around EVERYWHERE, and was assured that the bag really does not have much "give" to be able to get the book in there.

I ended up getting this Vera Bradley Clare bag in the Baroque print instead. It's on it's way to my house at this very moment!

vb_baroquw.jpg

I'm not a big VB fan. In fact, I really hate some of the prints, if I'm being honest. And the bag seemed okay but not great. Until I saw a youtube review of it! It's actually what sold me on the bag. I has a front snap pocket that also creates a slide in pocket between that one and the actual bag, which will be great for my cell phone to have quick access to it. Plus, it seems like it will be plenty of room to hold the things I need on my person at all times, like the book & pens, my sunglasses, some wipes, my phone, and a snack or some toys for DS to occupy him in line when needed. And I found that the more I looked at the bag, the more I liked the Baroque print. I can't wait to try it out in the parks! I think it will be great for Italy too, although I won't be able to have my phone in that slide in pocket. That will be too easy for a pick pocket to get!

And just one last quick thing, I started my official countdown at home last week, and for the first time, DS is old enough to participate! He loves pulling down a Mickey head every night after his bath. :goodvibes And we always have to point to the very last one and say that when we get to that one, we are going to Mickey's House! The first night we put it up, we spent a long time talking about it, and when I put him down for bed that night he said, "I love Mommy and Daddy and we go to Disney World!" That's my kid, all right!

Those are cute looking tickets! Now I wish I had requested those. I just have the pdf print-at-home tickets on my email for MNSSHP. Pretty boring looking.

Yay for getting your tickets!

I've used the Clare bag on my last two trips and I really liked it. I love that it's a crossbody style. :thumbsup2

Yay for MNSSHP tickets! They do like like regular park tickets, why can't they have a cute Halloween design on them?

I'll admit I'm not a D&B fan but that purse is cute... but since it is so park specific I think I'd only want to use it AT the parks and I'm sure it's way too expensive for that! As you probably know I am a HUGE Vera Bradley fan. I do hate a lot of the prints and it took me a long time to really LOVE VB... for the longest time they just screamed 'old lady bags' to me... anyway. They are great for travel and very washable which was super important to me since they aren't exactly cheap (but its easy to get good deals on them) and I have a baby. I bought a huge tote before we went to Disney and it got destroyed on the plane by spilled coffee (at least thats what we think it was) when we got home over a week later I put it in the washer with some detergent and vinegar on hand wash and let it air dry and it came out looking brand new again!

YAY for party tickets and not having to deal with will call lines!

I love that D&B pattern, have really thought about a wristlet in it. I totally see your point though. I'm not a huge Vera fan either but I will say I have 2 backsacks (a style they sadly don't make anymore, now it's backpacks..bleh) that are awesome park bags. Great pockets and storage but nice and light. Had to have 2 though as the colors didn't always work with certain outfits. :rotfl: Cute print.

Countdowns!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I have that Vera print in a back pack that Nick gave me for Christmas. I really like it. Good choice.

I was never a big Vera fan, but I am coming around. I went to the outlet in Orlando in June and they really had some great prices there. I got a really cool duffle bag for traveling. Love it!

Yeah for park tickets. I really need to make a decision on that.

I am still planning to head over to MK after we check in to VWL on the 24th, so I hope we can catch up and I can wish Paxton a Happy Birthday!

I don't know. He might have the best costume in the park that night if he'd go for it.

Wait a minute... there's actually a female out there who has this opinion. Please talk to my wife about it. :lmao::rotfl2:

Those are cute looking tickets! Now I wish I had requested those. I just have the pdf print-at-home tickets on my email for MNSSHP. Pretty boring looking.

They are cute, but they would be even better if they were Halloween themed! I almost did the print-at-home ones, but then I was afraid I would forget to print them before we left. :rotfl:

Yay for getting your tickets!

I've used the Clare bag on my last two trips and I really liked it. I love that it's a crossbody style. :thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear you liked the Clare! I know a lot of people on the DIS swear by the Hipster, but it looked too big for what I was looking for, and the mini Hipster was too small for the book. So when I scrolled down and found the Clare, it seemed like a much better option for me. It should be here in a few days so I can pack it up like it will be packed for the parks and make sure everything fits!

Yay for MNSSHP tickets! They do like like regular park tickets, why can't they have a cute Halloween design on them?

Totally agree, they should have holiday specific tickets for the parties!

The D&B is pretty expensive. :scared: I know I'd get decent use out of it, but it wouldn't be my every day purse, so probably too expensive just to use on vacations. Plus when eventual baby #2 comes, it will be back to the backpack for a couple of years anyway!

I think that's what bugs me about the VB bags, is some of those paisley prints are so old lady to me too! But looking around the site, I did manage to find a couple of prints that weren't too bad, and the Baroque grew on me the more I looked at it. I like that it has a pop of color but it isn't IN YOUR FACE color all over the bag. And I got a good deal on Amazon. What would have cost $72 on the VB site I got for a little under $60 on Amazon with free shipping!

Good to know about washing, I am notoriously clumsy. :rotfl: Plus DS is now into the squeeze pouches of fruits & veggies, so I was thinking they might be a good park snack and I can just see one making a mess in that bag! Hopefully not, but good to know I can throw it in the wash if it does.

YAY for party tickets and not having to deal with will call lines!

Darn, those would have made some cute pictures! :rotfl:

YES! I didn't want to have to waste any time in the parks getting tickets there, so I'm glad they came in and are tucked away with our park tickets now. :thumbsup2

I know, right?!?! I keep trying to convince him he should go as Michael...it would totally be cheaper, we'd only need the pj's because of course we already have teddy bears galore in this house! :lmao:

As adorable as the D&B is, I couldn't justify spending that much money on something I couldn't fit everything I need for the parks in. I was really bummed, because that pattern is adorable! Maybe I'll have to look into a wristlet. :thumbsup2 I'm hoping I like the VB bag. I don't think it will make me a VB convert, but hopefully it will be just what I need for a vacation bag.

I don't know if this will make me a VB convert or not, but I just hope the bag meets my needs in the park! I'm especially excited about the slip in pocket for easy access to my phone. I really want to take more pictures on it than I usually do to post live updates on Instagram.

I hope so! We are planning to be in MK most of the day, but will probably skip out in the afternoon since there is a party that night.

Hooray for your MNSSHP tickets arriving! I can't wait to see your costumes!

Maybe I can get Paxton into his for a quick photo soon! :thumbsup2

Congratulations! Always nice to get a little touch of what's in store a couple of months in advance.

I'll have to make sure he sees this. Attaining DISboards legend status might change his mind on the costume!!! :lmao:

Hahaha I know, it seems like EVERYONE loves VB!! A lot of girls I work with use the bags and love them, but I really don't like most of the prints. Just not my style at all. I even checked out the Disney ones to see if maybe I should wait it out and get a Disney print, but I think I dislike those even more than the paisley! :scared1:

I'm all caught up and subbing in!

Your Tink costume for MNSSHP is cute, even if it ended up being a bit more sheer than you expected. My parents and I all dressed up for our first MNSSHP in 2007 - I was more excited than they were, but after wards they both agreed that they felt they had more fun attending the party and interacting with both CMs and guests than they would have in just street clothes. We all felt a little weird at the resort bus stop (3 adults and no one else was dressed up) but once we walked into MK that melted away immediately. I think you'll be really glad you did it and that you're themed together!

I have to admit that I love Vera Bradley and have a lot of pieces, but only in a couple of patterns. My 'main pattern' is reitred now, and is just navy blue and white - a lot of the patterns are too much for my tastes, but on the whole, I find that the bags are well made, are really well thought out with pockets and accessibility and wash up great. You can tell that they put a lot of time into product development - you just have to find the pattern that works for you. They also do a lot of styles in solid microfiber, so you can completely avoid the loud patterns and keep the functionality ;) I also fully admit to buying a Disney D&B crossbody that I plan to only use at the parks. I kinda love bags!

AW Yeah, MNSSHP tickets!! Oh how I want to go this year. :crazy2:

"I love Mommy and Daddy and we go to Disney World!" OK, THAT is adorable!!

:welcome: Happy to have you along!!

I really do not enjoy dressing up for Halloween, but I am REALLY excited to dress up for the party! Especially having coordinating outfits, I think it will make for a really fun evening, even if we are dressed similar to other groups.

I did see that VB had some of the plain color bags, but then I thought those were just TOO plain. :lmao: I am so hard to please!!!! I actually had an image in my head that ALL VB bags were paisley & "old lady" to me, but there were a few patterns I found that I didn't immediately hate. So that's progress, I guess! :goodvibes Once I started thinking more about the Baroque pattern, the more I liked it, at least through a computer screen. Hopefully I will have the same feeling about it when it arrives.

AW Yeah, MNSSHP tickets!! Oh how I want to go this year. :crazy2:

"I love Mommy and Daddy and we go to Disney World!" OK, THAT is adorable!!

I'm so excited for our first Halloween party!!! Especially reading SO many TR's from October last year, yours included, that included the party. I don't think I've ever been so excited about Halloween!

:goodvibes He can be pretty adorable sometimes, if I do say so myself. It has been a lot more fun for me and gotten me even more excited about this upcoming trip (I didn't think that was even possible!) because he gets so excited every time we talk about going! He is just so "into" Disney now, so that makes it even better for me. He loves watching youtube videos of the WDW Railroad and the Tiki Room and always wants to look through pictures from our trips or through his autograph book. I just can't wait to see him actually experiencing everything now that he "knows" more about it all! :upsidedow

So excited for your tickets..really wish I got tickets from Sea World. Etickets are not so exciting..lol

Love the micheal costume idea...too funny, just remind him it would make for cute pics :)

Omg...no diaper bag I can only imagine. :) I think your bag is very cute and will work really well.

Aww too cute about the countdown
