Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa - FACT SHEET

Thanks for this info. We have seen them on our many trips to Disney and always wondered about them. We have never seen them on any maps or anything. Figured they were exclusive or something. Can't wait to see them. Any idea on when the will be available?

Press release said Summer 2009. Of course that could mean the last week of August '09 or June 1. And then there could be construction delays.

SSR owners will probably get first cracks at booking them. We start the 7 month window for June 1 on December 1. According to news reports, they will merely be another phase to SSR. Probably a room classification the way dedicated two-bedroom units are now. Rumblings suggest the same point structure as a two bedroom.

The old ones were leveled earlier this year and they've been clearing the way for the units since last month or so? Now we have reports saying 2 of the 60 buildings are up (at least framed). And these are only two that are visible from the canal to POR. There could be many more inside the woods there we can't see. They are being built in a modular design which means the rooms are assembled onsite with just the footings layed in beforehand. I'd imagine with that building plan they could put them up pretty quickly

I think it has to be just like reported-the latest phase of SSR and treated no differently. Having a resort that is all 3 bedrooms would be a tough sell. I know a lot of people who would like to stay there once in a while. But a 50 year plan of 3 bedrooms as a home resort is a little different.

They could sell all of the new points that come on line at the TH just like any other SSR point and the people buying them could then book a studio, 1, 2 or 3 bedroom just like the current owners at the 11 month window.

I think if this were the case, it would make the treehouses very hard to book for non-SSR owners along the lines of F&W fest at BWV & BCV, and concierge at AKV and almost any GV at any resort.

   YEAH THANKS FOR THE INFOMATION DOC!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder wonder wonder...when we can officially book. My kids are soooooooooooooo excited to stay in them.

Thanks Sue. I was waiting (and hoping) you'd chime in here. You usually know the most about this stuff. I just get to benefit from your knowledge.

I plan to hit up my guide this week and every other person I can find with some info. Seems I'll have a new focus for my SSR walks this trip.:yay:
I should add that the numbers I gave are based on a single resort with that number of rooms.
I do think they will have to make some of them accessible though (and probably at those numbers) because they are new construction. I don't think they can claim it's not technically feasible to make some accessible because it would not be that hard to do. They could make a series of ramps that go partway up and come to a flat platform before going on to the next ramp.
I don't have a direct link to a plot map, but there are several that look to be fairly close together. They could share the same beginning ramp, then have a separate ramp that goes to each individual villa from the platform. For the ramp, think of the monorail ramp at Epcot. That one is a bit steep, but it has switchbacks and level places (it also goes up much higher than the 10 feet that the new Treehouses will be elevated).

They could also have an elevator that serves a platform/deck for several villas; people staying in the accessible villas could use their keycard to access the elevator. The elevator would lead to a deck with paths to go to the deck for the individual units.
They could also have individual elevators (again access with the guest's keycard). Instead of having steps come up to the deck, an elevator would be placed where the steps normally enter the deck.

Some people have written that 'ecological restrictions would make it impossible to make the treehouses handicap accessible", but that doesn't seem to me to be true. Because the 'footprint' of the new Treehouses is smaller than the old Treehouses, they have some 'footprint' to play with.
Also, there always seem to be some loopholes to allow accessibility.

So...the master BR only has a queen size bed??? I might stay there once to let the grandkids have the experience, but I prefer the king size in the other DVC resorts.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if the ribbon cutting ceremony is for June 1, 2009, does that mean that that they will be ready for occupancy on June 1? We have a trip planned to arrive on June 7th and would love to stay there. Do you think they'll be ready?

I am guessing YES...just read on another thread that if you buy into BLT or AKV while on the Disney cruise....you get 4 nights before the general public to stay in those THV!!!!!

Anyone know the square footage for these units? They don't appear all that big when you go by them on the boats or see them from a distance. I am hoping fo some nice spacious deck areas to enjoy moring coffee or evening drinks.

I have a concern about the locations of these tree houses. How far removed from the main area at SSR will they be? How isolated are they from other tree houses? Will there be alot of walking from the main resort bus stop to the treehouses? Will a car be a must when staying there? What will the porches be overlooking? The golf course or just woods?
