Anybody know anything new, yet? Any photos? Last I knew, the old ones were gone - but I haven't seen anything since then, other than some rumors about approvals for mousekeeping and boat docks.
Don't know about Disney's, but last year DW and I were down in Raleigh, NC looking to buy some housing for DS & DDIL to live in while attending veterinary school and we came accross these adorable little treehouses. It was a neighborhood of about 50 of them. Can't be more than 700 sq ft each, but adorable.

We returned last night and they are going up all along the river. Each unit has a large pillar in the middle and then multiple support poles around the center pillar.
Sorry I don't have any pictures, but they look like the actual "footprint" will be small and then the living area will overhang the center pillar by a lot and be held up by the support poles.
We didn't see any with the living quarters built but based on what we saw it looks like they will look kind of like mushrooms except with a cylindrical top instead of rounded.
What I heard last week was that the tree houses have all been removed and will be reconstructed as three bedroom, one floor DVC units as an extension of SSR. FWIW who knows how reliable my source was!

If true it will be interesting to see what the point costs will be as the plans that have been shown here previously seem to indicate there will be sleeping space for 8 or 9 rather than the 12 or 13 that current three bedroom units accommodate.
I took some pictures of the new treehouses on July 29th.
Oh and our boat captain said that "It hasn't been decided whether they will be part of SSR, part of Port Orleans, or on their own." It's always fun to hear the rumors!
The treehouses are being re-built on the existing 60 or so plots. They are being manufactured by a company that specializes in prefabricated homes. The plan is to start trucking them in and installing over the next couple of months.
As others have said, no word on whether they will be DVC or not. previously the treehouses were mostly serviced by the Disney Institute infrastructure. The DI is now Saratoga Springs. That may or may not have any relevance here.
The rumor about them being part of POFQ seems a little far-fetched to me. These clearly aren't Moderate-class accommodations and the SSR front desk would be closer.

I agree. I think they will either be part of OKW or of SSR. I doubt they will be a stand-alone resort. They'd have to build a check-in desk and staff it. I think it is far more likely that they will part of one of the adjacent DVC properties.

I found the following info today on mouse owners...
Reports are surfacing that Vacation Club Way will be closed Tue-Thu from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm between Buena Vista Drive and the entrance to Old Key West until September.
Rumors say this closure is due to delivery of the new tree houses in pre-fabricated pieces.
Visitors to SSR will have to use the back entrance off of Buena Vista Drive by Downton Disney during these hours (and plan for additional travel time to the parks through the Downtown Disney traffic).
