Does Disney still do the Pirates of the Caribbean Treasure Hunt on Castaway Cay with log book and treasure map?

Wow - that's a blast from the past! Unfortunately, they discontinued it long, long ago (at least 10 years ago, if not longer).

Well, that's disappointing.

We did it Dec 2008 and yes, it was a lot of fun. You had to solve puzzles to find the next clue and it led you all over the island. It was our favorite thing on Castaway Cay.

Do they have anything comparable?

When we were on our WBTA over a year ago Guest Services had some great pictorial scavenger hunts that were a lot of fun. They gave you a card with 10 pictures on it and you had to find them, identify each item and location, and turn them in by 10pm. The correct ones were drawn from a hat/barrel/bin/cereal bowl to win a prize. The theme changed each day, from uniforms (a hard one), to carpets, to pictures (done twice with new sets of pictures), etc. The items were all over the ship and we passed others doing it and shared some info (don't know if it was legal). What a hoot! It was the Magic's answer to the Detective Agency, but for adults (any age could play).

We are doing the EBPC next year. How did you find out about the hunts?

I believe they're listed in the Navigator. They only do these scavenger hunts on the Magic and Wonder during the longer cruises (I've only seen them on 11+ cruises) and they're only offered on sea days. You pick up that day's scavenger hunt sheet and a little pencil (like you get at putt-putt) at the Port Adventures Desk. There is also a slotted wooden box to put your finished sheet into by 10pm each night. The answer key is posted at the Port Adventures Desk the following day. You don't get your sheets back, so if you want to check your answers you'll need to make a second copy. In addition to the themes GPaLarry listed, there's also one for Frozen day, "Spot a Thug" on Tangled day (only on the Magic), light fixtures, tables, and chairs. The number of hunts is dependent upon how many sea days are on your itinerary.

Also on the longer cruises, there's an "Officer Hide and Seek" (and I know for sure this one is listed in the Navigator). Everyone meets in a designated location (like Fathoms on the Magic) and takes a good look at the six or so officers who are participating. They get a head start, then guests are sent out to find where they're hiding. You don't get much time to find them - maybe 30 minutes at the most. There's a twist to the game that I won't reveal here because it's part of the fun. Then, everyone meets back in the designated location to find out where all the officers were hiding.

And, by the way, it is perfectly legal to share answers with other players and ask crew for help. Although, by sharing answers, you lessen your chance of winning and we've found that most crew don't have a clue where the items are located! :)

If not noted in the Navigator, check with Guest Services each day. Also, the Jack Jack Diaper Dash is a hoot because of so few kids on TAs. We only had 200 and the shows at night (magicians, comedians, etc.) had a hard time finding them in the audience. In the Diaper Dash, for the final race, only one baby was prepared (diaper issue, perhaps) and a willing (volunteered) dad became the second baby. I described this before, but it was a hoot. He started out alright, then lost his balance, one leg gave out, then an arm collapsed, in short he lost the race. Three levels of observers died laughing. I can still see it...highlight of the cruise...part of the magic!!
