Travels Insurance and COVID Insurance questions

Hi Everyone! I was wondering if anyone has had any experience buying travellers and covid insurance for a cruise using future cruise credits and if so what company did you use and did you have any issues getting travellers insurance for a trip using future credits?

Not sure if this will be helpful for you. I have an annual travel insurance policy which I have used to cover all my past cruises. I have one cruise coming up with an FCC. This is a bucket-list cruise, so the amount of the FCC is relatively minor compared to the entire cost. I intend to purchase some more travel insurance in case of Covid and quarantines from either Manulife or possibly the cruise company, depending on which offers the best coverage. My cruise is over a year away, if it occurs (the cruise company has rescheduled it once so far) so I’m not worried at this point.

We bought Manulife separately to cover our trip which includes a cruise; it basically covers those unexpected costs if we can't get on board and have to quarantine. FYI, I got a quote from Manulife, but then went through the Costco website, and it was $70~ cheaper!

With the Manulife covid insurance, it mentions "Automatic Extension" if you have to stay longer to quarantine and self isolate due to covid. My question is, don't we have to call and let them know we are staying beyond our expiry date?

Also does the covid insurance include REGULAR travel coverage also?

The Pandemic Plan I believe includes regular medical insurance coverage too. I know for the trip interruption part - start a claim/inform them ASAP. We called them before we booked accommodation/changed flights. You can start the claim via a web portal too. If you need to seek medical assistance, you must notify them before doing so.

I'm unclear on exactly what you mean by this. Do you want to pay for the insurance with a cruise credit? If so, the only possible way would be to buy the coverage offered by the cruiseline and I've not looked into whether or not they have modified any of their policies to include Covid coverage.

I'm confused about trip cancellation insurance for Manulife. Is it that one adult purchases it and if a spouse or kids become ill you can still cancel? I will need to call later but has anyone else figured it out? lol This is in addition to the pandemic plan of course. If everyone has to get cancellation insurance for my family of five it will be ridiculously expensive! I want to cover our Airbnb.

Just to add.. I purchased a family Covid insurance plan for a trip to Hawaii in January through Goose. We all ended up testing positive and Goose reimbursed us for additional lodging, rental car and food expenses (11 days additional). It was very easy and saved us over $8000.

Sorry, I meant that I wanted to buy travellers insurance for a cruise that I booked using future cruise credits as I had been told by a CAA agent that I couldn’t purchase travellers insurance for a cruise that I had booked using the future cruise credits and I was wondering if anyone else had that experience or could recommend a company that would allow you to buy travellers insurance using future cruise credits (I didn’t realize that you couldn’t get insurance for a cruise using future cruise credits)

I just downloaded their (Goose) app and tried to get a quote for Covid insurance. They only quoted me for a complete year. I only want it for this single trip. Did you buy it for a year or just that one trip? Thanks

I bought it for a year because I have a few trips planned this year. It did give me a single trip option though when I booked it, maybe they changed things up?
