Finally my Zellers (Orillia) got the Travelmate bags in!! I bought a black one (for dh) and a lilac one for me. They had a huge number of them in every colour for 22.47.

I have read that some like them and some don't, but I do like the feel of it. I don't like to carry a purse when we travel, so these seem to fit what we need. I can't imagine packing it like they say you can. Basically I want wallet, passports, camera (sometimes), gum, etc. in the bag. We'll see how they work out on our trip.

I bought one of them about a mnth ago ...I got the pink one and hubby looked at me and shook his head and said, I am NOT walking around carying a pink bag if thats what u think ! LOL

Is it the Travelmates that have the magnetic closure? If so make sure you keep your room cards away from them as they strip the info off them.

Oh the irony.... I have been watching our Zellers for the TravelMate since I read the first post awhile back. So... I give up and find something else to use (our trip is this weekend) and violla!! the TravelMate appears in Zellers yesterday. The good news is that what I actually bought was a Baggallini that I found at a Bags n'All store here in Kelowna. I hope it lives up to its reputation cause it wasn't cheap! I really like the look of the Heyes though. I have used the Baggallini once so can't take it back. Oh well! Happy packing all!!!:cool1:

The description says it has 12 compartments. Wouldn't this be a pain at the bag check stations??

thanks for the link, i have never seen them before, Definetly need to get this one!

DW and I just picked up 2 of these tonight. A red one for our DS and a Royal blue one for our DD. They love them. The bag is a bit to small for my wife so she is going to use her backpack still and i'm using my sling camera bag. Lots of storage between us now.

I am more of a fanny pack type of gal :) DH & I each had one on our last trip and it worked perfectly. I had a lil bottle of sunscreen, hand sanitzier, my tickets, lipglosh (w/sunscreen), tums and I think that was it. But DH carried the credit cards and his tickets. They aren't the most stylish things but they get the job done and are convenient. :cool1: :thumbsup2

I started a thread here on them after I redeemed one for Aeroplan miles http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1328516&page=3&highlight=Heys+travelmate
I did a 10 day trip in Feb with the bag and am still on the fence with them. They do hold a lot but the strap is not designed to hold the weight of the contents. We found it easy going through bag check. We just opened up the centre zipper and they looked. Mabey twice they checked a couple flaps that was it. We used a locker for big items and just carried the travelmate around the parks all day. They are great for light every day use but they really need to improve the shoulder strap before I use it again in the parks. :)

I have a Dakine backpack (actually designed for backpacking). It is ergonomically designed and can be adjusted to fit the biggest or smallest person with absolutely no shoulder or backstain (even with 4 bottles of water, sunscreen, camera, snacks etc) It has alot of pockets and adjustable straps. It is a smaller pack (smaller than your average kids book bag types Dakines that they sell at West 49) ....about $100...but it has saved us alot of aches and pains over the last 3 years! It also holds a hydration pack and is insulated to keep things cool. Got it at Coast Mountain Sports...they have them at MECC as well.:thumbsup2

I was looking at the MEC Sling also. We spend a lot of time out west in the summer as we are only 60 miles from Banff and am looking for a daypack that holds up better. I always use the kids backpacks leftover from the school year each summer:) I will check out the dakine also as we have not purchased anything yet :flower3:

After reading this thread yesterday, I went to Zellers and bought 3. A pink one for DD11, a green one for DD14, (I am tired of carrying everything around in my purse on previous trips) and a light blue one for my future DIL.
I tucked them away for Christmas as we are not going back to the World until Dec 2008.

I am still debating on the colour that I would like to have. (will likely end up with black)

My DH and I thoroughly checked the zippers as some we saw were split. I have to exchange DD11 as the lited keychain is missing.
