I have a question and was not sure where to post this question. I have Sleep Apnea and travel most times with a CPAP Machine which helps me to keep my airway clear at night while I sleep.

My problem is that we are flying and we cannot carry on water which my CPAP machine requires to work properly for my condition. We used to solve this problem by carrying on a smaller bottle (12 oz) of water. But with the new flying restrictions we cannot do this any longer. I don't trust it in my normal luggage cause I am almost positive it will get emptied somewhere along the way if I pack it in normal luggage.

Is there anywhere on property that I can get Distilled Water. My doctor indicates that I cannot use bottled water that it is not the same and that I must use Distilled Water only.

Any advise is appreciated. :goodvibes

Thanks,

My fiance has to use a cpap for his apnea as well. I am not aware of any place that sells distilled water on property. Honestly, I haven't really closely looked because we always drive and bring our own. If you have a car there are some grocery stores near by, also one company can deliver to your room. I don't know the website, so maybe somebody else could post it? I would like to know as well, just in case we try to fly some time.

We just traveled to WDW last month on american airlines. We did not take water.
Going through security was a bit of a PITA. They removed the machine from the case and swabbed it asked hubby questions about it-both flights.

Hubby just used tap water the entire time we were there. I think he checked and was told that was fine because it wasn't for that long (8 days).

You could run water through the coffee maker and let it cool and use that-that is the same as distilled water

By the way, they don't count your machine as a carry on because it is a medical device :thumbsup2

Wow, I have flown with it before and never had a problem like that. Thanks for the advice I never thought of using the coffee maker in the room. Unfortunately we will not have access to a car until 4 days into the trip as we (DW, DD-16, and I) are staying 3 nights at WL in a normal room, and then staying 6 nights at BCV on DVC Points. Again thanks. :)

Send some distilled water in your checked luggage. We put a whole case of bottled water in a checked bag and it arrived just fine.

Or you could ship to to yourself a few days ahead of time in a flat rate Priority Mail box.

Thanks,

I too have sleep apnea and have brought my machine to WDW 3 times now and have had no problem with using bottled water. The only reason they want you to use distilled water because the distilling process removes all the minerals that can cause a build up in your water tank over a period of time. It's the same reason why distilled water is recommended in your car's radiator system mixed along with the coolant. I have had my same machine for over 7 years now and while I use distilled water on a regular basis, I have had to use bottled water on occasion with no problem. Don't use tap water though, especially the stuff at WDW, it's nasty and it smells. Bottled water is order free, at least the good stuff is. Get yourself a case of bottled drinking water and you will be fine. Have a good trip and don't worry about it.:thumbsup2

There are also grocery stores that will deliver to the resorts, which is what we are looking at doing for our trip, also someone else mentioned that the Food Court can get it for you if you call ahead.

My husband uses a CPAP machine and flies at least twice a week. It's amazing how many times he can go through security with no problems at all, then the next time he's held up for 20 minutes or so to get clearance to take the machine. He travels through the same airports every week and it's never the same experience twice. His machine is different I guess, his doesn't use water.

I am pretty positive that you can bring as much liquid as needed carryon if it is for a medical condition. I would contact your doctor to write a note and perhaps contact the airport to set this up so there are no surprises. Also, you can put as much water and other liquids as your want in your checked luggage, so if you are still worried about using tap water, etc. you can bring it with you.

Why not contact WDW and ask if they have distilled water? My DM and I went on the Disney Cruise and all I had to do is contact them and they provided a gallon of distilled water. We did have to fill out a medical form. It is worth a try.

I would probably not pack distilled water in checked baggage. First, it's pretty heavy, so thre is more risk of going over the weight limit.
The other concern is if it does leak, it would be a big mess.

DH uses a CPAP too, and has taken it on our last 3 Disney trips. His machine doesn't require water, but here's a link that might help:

www.gardengrocer.com

I order a case of bottle water from Staples (join their rewards program for free & they deliver for free). Not sure if they have distilled water, but that might be an option.

Have you tried emailing the TSA to see what there policy is for carrying on water when it is required for medical reasons?

Same here. They provided a gallon of distilled for us as requested. I think we paid for it, but the fact that they were even able to help us out was great! My hubby flies with his C-PAP too, and this time, they stopped us and swabbed it from philly to tampa....but it went right through from tampa to philly?! i guess it does look a little freakish to the untrained eye...my hubby jokes that for Halloween he can be one of the musicians from the Cantina scene in Star Wars! ;)
