Travelling with a Dog(s)

kmccain,
What a great idea, I would never of thought about that. We just left today from FW after 15 great days, however, we did have the power kick off 2 times during our visit. Luckily we were there both times 'cause I do worry about my 2 girls that I leave behind. We usually come back to the camper about 1 or 2 o'clock and stay for the afternoon. I hate to leave the girls too long.

Boy I can't find the thread now but it was about the power going off. Someone mentioned the cell phone number on the door idea.

Someone else did some research about the air conditioner and how much it power it draws. He said it draws less to have the fan on high than on auto (I think) Something about it would run for longer periods and cool it down more than the auto setting where it turns off and on all the time. I can't remember for sure. I asked my DH about it and he agreeded. ::yes::

Maybe someone else can help refresh my memory and give us the right information if this isn't.

Thanks! :thanks:

:tink:

We have three dogs that have been to FW 20 times now and they really know the routine. They get walked a minimum of 3 times a day, just like the majority of the other posters. My dogs don't mind the water, so that is not an issue. The only thing that we do differently is put their Fort Wilderness pet tags on for their vacation. Their tags say their name, our last name and "preferred loops", so in the event something happens, they can narrow down really fast where they belong. We used to stay in the 1600-1900 loops, so they had tags that reflected accordingly. We use these in addition to their regular pet tags and their micro-chip tags. Call me paranoid, but they are really members of the family!

Bianca what a great idea in putting the loop info on the tags. I will have to bring some masking tape to put on the back of their tags with out lot number on it, so if one of them gets away, GOD FORBID!, we can know that they should be able to be returned to us with no worries. Thank you for the great idea! Maggie

I personally HATE the water at WDW. Should I bring along a gallon or two of water from home for the dogs? I really don't want them to have upset tummies from the water.

Has anyone had and issues with their dogs and the change in water? Just curious. Maggie

YES! My dog had a problem with Florida water. We had to go out and get distilled water for her. Next time she goes, we will bring our own.
