Travelling via Lille - Booking q

I'm just looking at trains for my potential (subject to DH approval!) trip to DLP in December. We'd be going out on the Sunday but probably returning on the Tuesday so would have to come via Lille. Eurostar tell me I can book the outward journey now but not the return. Can anyone tell me how this usually works? Do I just book one way now then book the return nearer the time? Can I not book the journey from Lille to Ashford now?

Also, what sort of times do the indirect trains usually run in the winter?

Just thought I'd bump this up a bit.

I've done some searching and I think I have the following options...

1) Book outgoing direct train now to guarantee low prices and book the return 90 days before holiday

2) Wait and book both ways on the indirect train, which may result in us getting an earlier outbound train.

Am I right in thinking that the prices released 90 days beforehand will be the cheapest available for the whole journey? Are tickets not on sale already for the Ashford to Lille part?

Will leaving from Ashford restrict my options at all or do all trains stop there?

Any experiences gratefully received!

I believe that prices are usually available a bit earlier if you phone rather than wait to book them online. So the online prices are not the cheapest ones you can get.

I may be wrong as I'm new to all this Eurostar business myself, I'm afraid! So I will be interested in any answers you get.

its the Lille - DLP and DLP - Lille parts of your fare that aren't released until 12 weeks (approximately) before travel. I've never done it myself, but I think from reading other posts in the past, you do need to wait until the whole fare is bookable to be able to get the return fare at its cheapest price.
