Okay - My hubby managed to get a trip planned to WDW for our 10th anniversary as a surprise for me. We aren't going till June (our anniversary is June 9th) but he wanted to surprise me early once he got a place so I could help plan, since I usually book all meals and such. (I'm a spread sheet girl)

We have 3 children that aren't going with us in June. (We are taking them in July) Here's the thing. We haven't been to Disney without kids since 2003 when I was pregnant with the first. I haven't a clue on where to start with ADR... My July trip is almost done with reservations, but that is all geered to the kids (7,5, and 1). So I am looking for suggestions. This is our trip to replace our "wish we would have gone to Disney instead" honeymoon. We don't need fancy...just special and fun. We always do date nights while there to hit Jelly Rolls...which will happen as well, but this time we have 4 days without kids there, so...help!

Thanks!

Melanie

I'd eat at the more adult places. V&A, bluezoo, Shulas, Il Mulino, Bistro de Paris. We are adults only and we prefer the opportunity for more upscale dining in a quieter environment.

I agree with Pakey. Take the opportunity to dine upscale since you don't want to visit those kinds of places with kids.

My list of places I've tried and liked for adults only dining would include:
Citricos
California Grill - there will usually be a lot of kids here. Still great food though!
Flying Fish
Jiko
bluezoo
Bistro de Paris
Sanaa
Turf Club

Did 20th anniversery trip this past Nov. Also with no kids. Stayed BWV only did resort and Epcot, very relaxing trip. Artist Point, our fav place, has generally quiet room and great lounge. Flying Fish is terrific and right there if you want entertainment at night, for BW. Shula's is better steak place than Yachtsman. Bluezoo also great. Just remember don't fill up to much, a full tummy makes for a good nights sleep. No kids, right?

What and where is the bluezoo? I haven't even heard of it. Places we were kinda considering for the 9th were Citricos, California Grill (is there still a lounge up there?) and Artist Point.

Thanks for the help and suggestions!

Our favorite thing about staying at BWV, other than proximity to Epcot, is having the best restaurants just a five minute walk away. Bluezoo and Shula's are at the Dolphin, Il Mulino at the Swan. We went to Bluezoo for our 28th anniversary in October. This year we are going to Shula's for the first time. After dinner you can stop at Jellyrolls on the way back to BWV. Have fun!!

bluezoo is at the Dolphin. It's my favorite restaurant outside of V&A. It's more adult; I've only ever seen one table with a child in all of my visits there. It's modern, upscale, on a different playing level than Disney's signatures.

If you do not like fish, this is the wrong place for you though.

They have an amazing lounge, a raw bar.

I think these are good ideas. I might also suggest Jiko, Raglan Rd @ DTD is fun, the Italian restaurant - Il Mulino, also Narcoossee's if you time the reservation to coincide w/ MK fireworks and the Electric Water parade. Have a good time.

I agree with the others to do more upscale dining :). We ate at Artist Point and Yachtsman Steakhouse for the first time last month and they are both amazing :thumbsup2. I highly recommend booking one of them or both :goodvibes.

We ate at Narcoosees the first week of January and highly recommend it. The meal was great. We had a window table so we enjoyed the fireworks. They dim the lights and pipe in music.

One thing that we enjoy now that our daughter is 19 and all grown up is being able to dine at nicer restaurants. When she was little, she was not generally well behaved at dinner when we were on vacation - tired, overstimulated, etc. So we ate at quick places like buffets and counter service. So enjoy your childless trip by treating yourselves to some upscale dining!

DW and I went the week after Thanksgiving 2010 by ourselves and ate our way around the world. (TR link below) V&A and Bistro de Paris are VERY romantic and both take TIW (not DDP though). Jiko's was very nice as well. We had a blast without the kids and not going park commando. Enjoy yourselves.

You could mix the best of Dolphin one night. Apps and drink at bluezoo than to other side of hotel for dinner at Shula's. Artist Point dinner is fantastic, we use taxi toget to WL from BW, 10-15 min instead of 45-60min worth tha $20.
