I am not sure if this is the right place to post it (my apologies if it isn't) but it seemed the best fit.

We are going to WDW in July, and it will be the first BIG trip with two little ones (our first Disney trip was when our girls were 6, 7 and 10. We're going this time to celebrate the adoption of our sons, who will be 1 and 2 when travelliing). I could really use some advice for those who are used to traveling with some so young/multiples this young.

1. When we fly, the 2 yo will have his own seat but the 1yo will be in a lap. Should we be bringing car seats for 1 or both of them? The 1yo is barely 1 and was also a preemie so he actually still uses the "carrier" type carseat- the would have to have it in his own seat, but since he's in a lap, he wouldn't be using it anyway...but that brings me to the next question.

2. I'm assuming car seats just aren't used on the busses?

3. We will most likely rent a double stroller for the boys. It will also help us with the sensory issues one of them has to be able to sit in their "cave" without being crowded and touched. BUT, what about our airport time? There is no way we can handle carry-ones and have two kids in arms (besides the 2 yo is a linebacker!). Would umbrella strollers be the best thing? Can you bring those on the plane these days, or are they considered your one allowed carry on? which travels us to the next question:

4. All the luggage rules have changed in the past two years. Now we are only allowed 1 carry on per ticket holder (you have to pay for each checked bag). So, are the strollers the one carry on? Would one of the ticket holders have to claim the diaper bag as their carry-on? What about my purse, is that separate from my carry on?

I have more but I've already babbled too much, I'll add them later. THANKS!

They should be fine without them.

Correct.

Strollers are fine. If you bring them, I would take them to the parks, as well, and avoid the stroller rental fees.

I've flown United, Continental and American in the last year, and they all allowed two carry-ons (one personal item like a purse or briefcase and one other carry-on item). Our stroller was never counted as a carry-on and was gate-checked.

Have fun!

Today we were given the following:

United: 1st bag $15, 2nd bag $50 one way. Oversize bag over 50lbs - $125.

Continental: 1st bag $15, 2nd bag $25 one way. Oversize bag over 70lbs - $50.

American: 1st babg $15, 2nd bag $25 one way. Oversize bag, over 70lbs - $100-$150.

We are flying AirTran: 1st bag $15, 2nd bag $25. Oversize bag over 70lbs - $79.

Airport: sling for the bitty 1 year old? Ergo for the 2 year old?

Since your 1 year old is so small, you probably won't have the exhausting time I did the one round trip I did with a 17 month old lap baby. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, and you don't know if it's going to be exhausting until you're in the middle of it, so I generally urge people to just buy the seat for the under-2s. But if the 1 year old is that little maybe you'll have full use of your arms and shoulders at the end of the flight. I didn't, and it was only Seattle-San Diego!

Ergo? There is NO way this little freight train would manage that (unfortunately). My husband is 6'6" and can't even carry him that long. He's also VERY active and would freak out by it, :(

The 1 yo is not quite 20 lbs yet. He's pretty calm and prefers to be held so I'm hoping it won't be too bad- but he HATES the sling. We've never been able to get him to use it.

The 2yo does have his own seat, so there will be me, The Husband and three big sisters who can all share baby time!

Yes, almost all airlines do charge most passengers for checked luggage, but the first three do not charge for gate-checked luggage. Never flown AirTran, so I can't help ya there.

Congratulations on your sons! Consider:

* don't bring seat for lap baby...and only bring seat for 2 yo if you don't think he will stay in his seat during the flight or if you are renting a car.

* if you are only using Disney transportation, there is no place to secure car seats.

* bring your own stroller!! The Disney strollers are exorbitant and I don't think they will be comfortable enough for 1 yo or have a pull down canopy to create a "cave".

* gate check your stroller...check w/your specific airlines as to how that impacts baggage allowances, but it is incredibly helpful to have in the airport. It will keep the kids safe, or you can use it as a luggage trolley if the boys are walking/carried.

* make sure you know the rules regarding bringing liquids through security -- I always bring empty cups and buy drinks after we pass through. I would also recommend bringing infant tylenol in case of any ear pain.

* ship a box of diapers, baby supplies, snacks, etc to yourself in care of your resort...this will reduce/minimize luggage packed.

* we always brought a small cooler bag of drinks and familiar snacks into the parks so they were immediately on hand when we needed them....it can take a long time in line to buy a snack and it is especially tricky to find juice/milk at a moments notice.

Have a great trip!

A small one year old would likely prefer to be in a nonDisney stroller. They are not padded, hard plastic.

Car seats and strollers don't count towards luggage, and you can bring a diaper bag on board for the lap baby.

I would recc. carriers too, (I have carried 3 year olds comfy in Beco/Ergos, and it makes hands free at the airport much easier), but, if they are not for that, gate check yours stroller.

Have a great trip
