I am hopefully planning on visiting soCal in later spring. I want to take along my folding bike. It's an Origin 8. When completely folded it is TOO big for even the largest suitcase. I was hoping to pack it into some hardcase Samsonite but its too wide overall when folding...even taking out the handle bars and seat.

I was wondering if anyone has traveled with a folding bike. Or perhaps just a bike in general. Did you purchase a special traveling case for it? A box? Or just check in it as it and hope for the best.

Thanks.

I would check first with your airline to see what their requirements and recommendations are. Each airline is different, and it would be a shame to buy something just for this trip only to have your airline refuse it.
If you won't be flying on this trip, then perhaps your local cycling shop can help with suggestions. For example, REI (stores and online) is good about questions like this.
