Traveling with a child with a J tube

In February we will be traveling by plane with our 18 month old granddaughter to WDW. She will still be on her J button feedings 7 hours at night. My question is what kind of documentation will be needed to get through security at the airports? She is on a kangaroo pump and needs tubing and a bag in case of a delay. I know we can get water on the other side of security but she travels with powdered formula and duacal. I would hate to have them pack it in checked luggage and then not have it when we arrive.

Also, she is on pediasure, can we take that through? I can't ever remember seeing that available airside.

hi there My DD is on Gtube feeds and we just got back Dec 12--we shipped stuff ahead to the hotel, our flight was only 1 1/2 hrs. but I know that they can take the formula and duocal on board, they are medical/baby formula. You'll just need to go thru the medical liquid/baby security line at MCO when you fly out You may need to have a drs statement for the pediasure, since it may be considered a beverage and not a food source-- I'm not sure, but someone here on the board will know.

Yes, look for the signs - they are pretty well marked in Orlando and were also when we flew out of Minneapolis and when I flew in June out of Fort Lauderdale.
You need to keep your medical liquids separate from your one quart bag of other liquids and just let the TSA agents know that you have medical liquids.

They usually do not question 'medical liquids' needed for about a 24 hour period because you would need that much in case of delay. I would not put anything that you would be concerned about losing or not having right away into checked luggage.
I have never seen Pediasure on the secure side, so if you may need any during the flight or first days, you will need to bring it thru security with you. As the other poster mentioned, it may be considered a drink, rather than nutrition, but the package is pretty clear that it is a nutritional drink and since she will be so little, I don't think they will question if you bring a few bottles with, but a doctor's note that says it is vital for her might be a good insurance. We brought 2 containers of pudding along on our trip in October. I held them out separately and told the TSA person they were for DD to take he medication with. The pudding went thru the xray machine and the TSA people didn't say anything else about it.

The powdered formula is not a problem in your carry on bags - they are not screening any special way for powders (at least at this point).
The duacal I have seen is a powder, so that should not be a problem.

We just got back with 2 kids on continous feeds, 1 g and 1 j. We took the pumps and the bags with feeds though security with no problems. We also took bottled saline for suctioning of a trach. We did, however, mail the bulk of the formula ahead to our "resort" (GKTW). Karen

My son uses the pediasure for medical reasons and we took 3 bottels through secruity in Birmingham AL with no trouble. We packed it with all of his other meds and I think they asked it it was for medical reeasons. We said yes and they whent on to the next person. We do however pack the rest of the supply in our checked bags and have never had any trouble with that either. I try to take enogh for our flight and an emergency and then if something were to happen to the bag then I could always take a cab to Publix. You shouls have no trouble getting through. We have never needed a doctors note, but we always bring one just in case.
