Anyone tried one of these parties? Even better, is anyone a consultant?

I am not much of an "at home party" consultant type-person. But I looooooove, love, looove (did I say LOVE!?) wine. It looks like this is something that I could actually do and enjoy.

Any opinions would be great. I have 3 small kids, so I don't know how much time/effort I would be able to put into this, but it looks really interesting...

I recently went to a wine party hosted by a friend. There was a consultant who educated us on wines and the host provided sampler plates of different cheeses, breads, crackers and chocolates to pair with each round of wine.

The party was 4 hours which was my only real complaint and the wine was a little spendy $15-20 per bottle and the only economical way to purchase it was by the case.

I would not host one because the set up (food & wine) costs are exhorbitant with all the specialty cheeses (Host was given a list of what to buy by the consultant) Host said it ran her over $200 for a party of 8. Out of the deal Host received 1 bottle of wine and 4 wine glasses. Ummm, no thanks.

However, with a wine loving crowd with deep pockets it might be fun and lucrative for you. I think we were more the beer and martini crowd:rolleyes1
