Hi all,

I'm traveling solo for conference and plan on spending the weekend before the conference at Pop. I'm not too worried about being solo in the World, except that I have read that some of the lakeside areas at Pop can be very quiet, downright eerie quiet. I'm planning on spending all of time in the park, so will be coming back after evening EMH at times. Looking at this map, it would seem that getting a preferred room will keep me in the busier parts of Pop:

This map indicates the preferred room areas in Yellow.

Do you think it's worth it to pay for preferred to get the rooms closer in to Classic Hall? I really won't care about views or noise too much, as my plan is to be in the parks for so much of the time. TIA for your help!:goodvibes

Pop is okay and the shuttle service is more frequent from this resort then most in my opinion. I would recommend getting a room that faces either the lake or parking lot because the rooms facing the pool or various court areas can be quite noisy even later in the evening sometimes. I hope my comments help.

i had a perrferd there once i stayed at the playdough building on the second floor i was surprize on how much noise was going on in the pool area i could not hear it in the room

We have stayed at this resort probably 10 times in the past 10 years we love it!! We have stayed preferred and regular and IMHO I wouldn't pay the extra for the preferred I have asked to be upgraded before and they were glad to accomodate us but this is not guaranteed especially if the time of year is busy but, this is the only way we have done it I just wouldn't pay for it?
I would ask for the 50's building 3rd or 4th floor to help dampen the noise coming from the pool area but at least it is well lit and you will have a better feeling of safety.
Have Fun!!

always get standard. to me the preferred is not worth it - unless you get stuck in 90 or 80 building.

the walk to the food court/buses is only a minute or two longer - if that.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll stick with Standard. Standleyent1, I like the idea of asking for 50's 3rd or 4th floor. It sounds like the whole resort is pretty well lit, so I'm hoping it won't be an issue.

I've stayed at Pop solo 2 or 3 times now. I've always had standard. I usually request ground floor and away from pool area. As such, always ben next to classic Hall! lol :goodvibes

I ahve stayed at Pop numerous times now. I have never really had a problem with pool noise when staying non prefered. I also agree with the fact that the shuttle service does appear to be more frequent than other resorts that I have stayed at. Don't spend the extra money for prefered, you should be fine.

I have done both. Last time was Preferred and it was the best money we spent. After a long day at Disney, it's SO nice to get off the bus, walk to thru the lobby and be at your room. Our first time standard, you would not believe how those extra steps seem SO FAR. Plus, when you buy your refillable mug, it's a hop skip and a jump to the canteen. I LOVED it.

I have stayed numerous times at the pop and also never really had a problem with the noise w/ non preferred. if you want to be closer to the buses w/o preferred just ask to be put closer when you get to the desk. we did last year and it seemed like we were closer but i now believe it's just the change of scenery that made it feel like we were closer because we have always been put into the 50's section and when we asked last year we were put into the 70's.
