^ What a *wonderful* "Blogspot" this is !

If you've watched Disney's masterpiece, "Mary Poppins" multiple times as I have, (And chances are, if you're reading this, you HAVE ;) ) It's remarkably easy to forget that in filming the movie the actors involved never actually left the sound stages of Burbank, CA.

This is a tribute to all the incredible artists that were involved in bringing the illusion of London (amongst other things, such as penguin waiters and carousel horse races to life) in a most believable way.

Even the scenes that don't seem so much of an illusion, like the interiors shots of the bank and the "little old bird woman" sitting on the steps are...

Well, I've said too much.

If such things fascinate you, click on the link above and enjoy a "behind the scenes" view of how these brilliant illusions (especially for the mid-1960's, long before CGI invaded everything) were accomplished.

FYI, every image on the site can be enlarged twice with a double click.

*Enjoy* Fellow Disney fans ! :smickey:

Amazing. Beautiful art work. :cool2:
I had no idea it was all painted. Wow! :3dglasses

Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies. It's probably Disney at his most perfect.

Thanks for sharing the link with us.

Wow, that is a fantastic tribute. Thanks so much for sharing the link. I love Mary Poppins, one of my all time favorite movies, Disney or otherwise. Walt was so far ahead of his time. Mary Poppins shows his true genius. It always amazes me that PL Travers hated how they did the movie.

Mary Poppins is one of my favorites also! The matte shots are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

Stunning paintings, aren't they ?

They take the viewer away to a magical place without them even realizing it.

I can't wait for the Blu-ray edition ! :goodvibes

P.S. I have NO idea where the "&qu" came from in my thread title ! It should have ended with a parenthesis.

Go figure. :confused3
