Traveling as a family of 5

we have had consistent luck with condo rentals through VRBO, not only controlling price but also the exact unit we get. we also get a kitchen and are able to arrange for our 5th. In June we got a twin air mattress on Amazon because the condo wanted $20 a night for a cot, but we were able to make our 1BR work for the 5 of us when we knew a 2BR would have been thousands more over the trip.

We are a family of 4, but nobody will share a bed with my oldest, so we are always looking for places with 3 separate sleeping places.

Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Staybridge Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites and Holiday Inn Express & Suites are hotel chains hat I can think off the top of my head that offer rooms with 2Q beds and a sofa sleeper.

There are also hotels that offer roll away beds as well.
We always got a room with a rollaway bed when I was growing up in a family of 5. Stayed in hotel chains like Red Roof Inn, Super 8, Days Inn, Choice Hotels (Comfort or Quality Inn), and Best Western. I don't know if policies have changed since it has been years since I traveled with my siblings. I think some of the Universal hotels have capacity limits of 5 if you rent a rollaway.

Ko Olina Beach villas ,next to aulani, not to be confused with the marriott further down the road.Huge condos with all the appliances you need, balcony, 2 baths, full kitchen, livingroom, diningroom and washer/dryer.Much better than squeezing yourself into a tiny room at aulani for more money.

This was an issue when I was married. We didn’t travel much but we either stayed at suite hotels or just got two rooms. The rooms would then be broken down by gender.

Now it is me and my three. They are 16, 18, and 20. When we travel, we sometimes get one room, but during longer trips I’ll get two rooms or a suite when possible (in the middle) just so we can all spread out.

this is how we do it too!

I usually do a condo when I go to Maui. VRBO has loads of them (and I'm sure all the other platforms do also).
