We were in WDW Nov.6-13th. My DH, DS6, and I ended up with a stomach bug. The other family we traveled with was also sick (we didn't all eat the same thing). I read that there were a lot of others that traveled b/f us that were also sick. I am reading now that many others were sick!

I don't ever remember reading such a string of posts about people getting a stomach bug! Am I just overly sensitive to it right now or do you agree?

Nothing for nothing, but I think that surfaces at WDW can NOT be getting cleaned as they should.

We were there from Nov 7- Nov 11 and we didn't have any stomach issues. Tis the season for spreading germs, Disney is a huge place and a huge amount of people go through there on a daily basis. Not everyone unfortunitely is as cleanly as the next. Sorry you guys were sick

Sorry you were all sick... that's the absolute worst on a vacation. But as the other poster said, think of the thousands and thousands and thousands of guests visiting the parks. People instinctively grab the rails as they wait in line. Same goes for water fountains, 3-D glasses, handrails on busses, monorails, etc., etc... There's no possible way cast members can go through and thoroughly clean every single surface in all of WDW. I usually carry Purell with me and use it often when we're there. I also learned the hard way to avoid going during peak flu/cold season as 3 out of the 4 of us came back with influenza in 12/04 :(

Again, I'm so sorry you had to endure the stomach bug on your vacation.... hoping you have a more magical experience next time :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

We were there 11/15-11/22 and all got sick when we came home with coughs and colds. I blamed it on the weather change. It was 80 degrees when we left, came home to NYC to 65 degrees then spent the weekend in the Poconos where at night it was a low of 12 degrees. I still have a hacking cough I can't get rid of!

We've had stomach bugs on two of our trips (Feb 2005 & March 2007). Each of us coming down with it one at a time, day by day....ugh. Come to find out that others there at that time had it too.

But, I've realized that although it might help ease the pain a little bit to think that there was "something going around", the fact is people get sick ALL the time in Disney. I'm sure there's always a stomach bug going around down there! And someone has to be unlucky and get it.

I feel like we've paid our dues, but I am sure we will get sick again! It won't stop us from going back again and again though! :)

This is a major pet peeve of mine - the finger scan on the way thru the ticket turnstyles - what a great way to spread germs to everyone else coming in the park!! Sorry you were sick - we had the same bug going thru the school down here.

My DS has been sick the days before our WDW vacation twice now. We're just used to it. Last year he got croup two days before. We didn't know whether to cancel or not. Our DR said, the cough will lessen and it will turn into a cold. Doesn't make a difference if he's sick at home or in WDW. We went and he was sick the first 3 days of our trip.

This trip, he had a fever and a cold sore the day before we left, in WDW the cold sores increased to 4 on his lip and a few inside his mouth. Called the doctor (from Tomorrowland, just weird to phone home from inside MK:)) DR said it was "cocksackie?" Foot and Mouth Disease. Sanitize constantly and give him tons of fluids and tylenol for the pain. He did not eat for 5 days!

We searched all of WDW for hand sanitizer and it finally found it in individual packets at the General Store on the Boardwalk. I recall someone saying they carried more stuff due to DVC.

Of course I think he got sicker in WDW because of touching all the handrails and rubbing his mouth. We learned to sanitize constantly. I will never be without it on a vacation again. I will, however, use the wet wipes since they're easier to use on kids than Purell. Plus you can use them on table tops.

I will be packing Clorox wipes this next trip to wipe down everything in the room.

After seeing my son in pain for 5 days and could not eat, I've become a clean freak!:) You have this guilt as a parent that if you could have prevented his pain - I know I may not have. But you still feel the guilt.

Anyhow. He did get to somewhat enjoy the trip.

I pray this next trip we'll all be healthy! :)

Florida was one of the first states this year to have the flu show up. Lucky us! That's why I go my flu shot. I spend a lot of time around WDW property and with so many people in such a confined space, germs are going to be spread. I am very careful about not touching my face and washing my hands often. Knock on wood, I haven't gotten sick for some time.

You can get a stomach bug anywhere, really. My DD's best friend got one a few months ago, and within days it had hit DD, then me, then DH, then DD's best friend's father. Her mother (my friend) was miraculously spared. It was a BAD bug. At least it was over in a couple of days. Those bugs are so contageous. I wouldn't blame it on Disney per se.

We have a really bad stomach bug going around here. More than 300 students were out of school in one day:scared1: It would really stink to have that happen on vacation.

I feel so bad for you not only for the illness messing up your magical trip, but also being sick so far from home:sad1:

I know that stomach bugs were going around here, too - both my kids, myself, my nieces and my SIL got sick recently, too - and we are across the country from WDW. It's been going around all the schools lately. I really hope we are all healthy for vacation - that would definitely suck.

I know that we can catch the stomach bug absolutely anywhere. I just was reading more than one thread about people with a stomach bug in WDW just before we left. I wish I hadn't read those threads! I jinxed us!

I hope we've paid our dues for the winter. The kids and I always seem to get hit once a year.
