Travel time OKW to Homecoming ADR

We have an ADR at Homecomin in our next vacation. It is our first visit there and also our first stay at OKW Resort. What do you think, how much time should we allow to get to our reservation. We do not have a car and would love to go by boat. Thank you. I am reading here on the board for years but always hesitated to ask questions myself because my english is not the best (we live in germany), but now I wanted to give it a try.

Your English is great! Better than some Americans where I'm from Disney usually tells guests to allow 90 minutes travel time before your ADR when using Disney transportation. In my experience, this is mostly applicable when you have to catch a bus to a park, then go through security and enter the park, and then walk to the restaurant. I'm not familiar with the distance between OKW and Disney Springs, but I would think 60 minutes depending on how long the boat ride is would be enough. That's also assuming the boat drops you off at the center dock and not the one at the very end near the Rainforest Cafe.

If this is your first visit since the renovation I would probably budget 75 minutes to account for finding the restaurant (unless you get a map ahead of time and know exactly where you are going). We walked ourselves in circles a couple of times trying to find Homecoming in May.

The food is soooo good by the way!! We are from South Carolina where we get southern cooking all the time and it was by far the best comfort food we've had

The boat ride is wonderful!! So relaxing, and beautiful especially at night. Just keep in mind that the boat will not go in bad weather, so if it looks like rain/lightning at the time of your ADR you should plan on the bus. We did wait a long time for a Disney Springs bus once last trip, but you might get one right away. The bus ride is short!

Timing is dependent on the boat. I am not sure how often it runs, so if you just miss it vs woohoo got it!

If you plan on doing some wandering then I would leave 2 hours before and use that time to shop

Otherwise an hour should do it. I did say should!!!

You can always bus there and boat back, or even Uber there and boat back if you are running late

Good tip AllThingsMickey4, walking in circles and searching for a place could be me. We have been once after the renovation, but did leave again very soon, because we did not like the new looking. But the food Reviews sounded sooo good, that we will give it another try.

The boat between the resort and Disney Springs is a great option. We use it all the time. An hour is probably enough time, certainly no less than that. Try to get your bearings ahead of time regarding where Homecomin' is located. The boats start running at 11:00 a.m.; not sure exactly how late they run, but if you decide to stay at the Springs to do some shopping, the bus is always an option.

The boat ride is not too long and it is relaxing and pretty. You get to look at OKW and the other resorts on your way. I agree that an hour is probably enough time but definitely don't cut back any further than that. It was a bit of a walk to the restaurants from the dock at Disney Springs and you may have to wait for a ferry heading there. I think it runs hourly during the day until 4pm when it starts on the half hour, but definitely check the schedule! Enjoy your stay. We loved OKW.

If the OKW boat still stops near the Boathouse then you are not too far from Homecoming. Pick up the Disney Springs brochure from the hotel check in area before you get on the boat.

Thanks I think I am all set for the way now and only have to decide what menue to order. Unfortunatley I can not eat all that sounds interesting or I will have to roll back instead of using the boat.

You can always walk back. We love the walk between Disney Springs and OKW.

Thanks Denine, didn't even know that you can walk from OKW to Disney Spring. Could you give some more Infos, like how long, starting point at DS and so on? Is there a chance you see some wildlife while walking? We once saw a couple of river otters at DS and they were too cute.

I think the menu sounds great too!! In anticipation of it being awesome (from those I know who've eaten there), I made ADRs for our November trip as well! I hope you enjoy it!
