Travel time from US/IOA RPR to Disney's HS?

I need help with a crazy idea I have (I also posted this on the Disney side of things). I found out that Disney has extended the Osborne Christmas lights to January 7th. We will be staying at RPR that night and I just can't be that close and not run over there and see them before they are shut off for the season. We don't start our Disney portion of the trip until the evening of the 8th, but I already have the tickets and we just happen to have an extra day on them that we won't be able to use.

Please help me know how much time to plan to travel between RPR and Hollywood Studios. We will be at the US/IOA parks that day and will need to leave and get our rental car from the RPR parking lot, drive to HS, park and be in the gates before 7:00PM. HS closes at 7 that night, but I know from past experience that they typically leave the lights on for about an hour after park close. Mapquest shows the driving time to be 20 minutes. Thanks for any help you can provide for my crazy quest!!!

I would be in your car at RPR heading out at 6p. With no traffic I agree with MQ--20 minutes. I-4 traffic is notoriously heavy and unpredictable, though, so I'm allowing time for that.

The odds of you making the trip between the RPR and DHS in under 20 minutes is slim to none...despite what Mapquest says. I live here and know how the traffic can be and on a Saturday evening and 20 minutes is not reasonable in most cases. Heck...it might take you 20 minutes to get from the WDW gate to the DHS parking lot on some days! You should allow somewhere between 35-45 minutes for the trip...if you make it sooner...fine...but if don't you won't make it to the gates by 7pm.

How awesome is that! I just read your six park trip report!

It makes me think I could even add MK onto the end of our HS quick trip. After seeing the Osborne lights, get to MK to catch the last night of the castle lights! MK's open until 10 that night, I should have time right? Now to work out the logistics of getting from HS to MK!!! Fun, fun!

Figure 45-60 minutes gate-to-gate DHS to MK, since you'll have to go through the TTC.

Yay! We won't have to rush so much to do this now. Disney extended the hours at Hollywood Studios on January 7th. They are now open until 9:00PM! They even added an extra Fantasmic show, so now there is one at 6:30 and one at 8:00. Maybe we can even try for the last Fantasmic show of the night and still get to see the lights! Nothing like trying to cram every thing in!
