Hey folks,

Like to take a week off and go to Disney Orlando (for 4 days), remaining two days I want to see Dyatona, Key west. You get a good deal through travelocity or hotwire if I book Flight+hotel +car all together, once you break it up then it costs lot more money.

Can you guys suggest me a place between orlando and Miami ? I'm willing to travel an hour or so everyday to get there as long as I can be back in the same hotel every night. I have to keep one hotel to get a good package deal.

The plan is to fly in and out of the same city, and stay in the same hotel. So I can buy a package deal. Thanks

Key West is a good 7-8 hour drive from Orlando, so it's going to be tight. If you're set on doing this, I suggest you drive straight to Key West, spend a day or so there, and then drive back up to Miami. Key West to Miami is about 3 hours.

A better suggestion-- check into flights from Orlando to Key West. They won't be too expensive, and that will save a lot of time. The flight is only about an hour.

That's kind of what I was going to say. I stayed in Kissimmee and, with a rental car, drove to Key West. It takes all day to get there and all day to get back. Flying is an option but then you miss the drive through the Keys and that is a destination in itself. I stopped at every pull out in the keys and just looked at the blue/green water, the wildlife, the bridges and the views. It was the highlight of my trip. With the limited time you have I would suggest flying but only if all you want to see is Key West itself.

Key West is at least 325 miles south of Orlando and Daytona beach is around 100 miles, I would guess, Northeast of Orlando. That is a lot of ground to cover. It might be a better idea to plan a separate trip for another time.

There is another option for Key West as well, though it still isn't a day trip by any means. I'd suggest planning an overnight at least in KW.

There is a ferry that runs between Ft. Myers and Key West that takes 3.5 hours, but there are times of the year when it does not run (seas are too rough). Ft. Myers is about 150 miles from Kissimmee, but it is on the WEST coast, the Gulf side.

Miami should probably be another trip, or a half-trip all its own. If you fly SWA, you could fly into Miami and out of W. Palm Beach, and the price to do that itinerary should not be significantly more than a r/t out of Orlando.

I agree, you would not have time in one week to spend 4 days at Disney, 1 at Daytona Beach, and any time at Key West unless you flew down. If you want to do any sight seeing, you should probably either schedule more time, or a return trip. It is not enough time to all you want in 7 days.
