To avoid the line for the irons that I've read about, we got a tiny Samsonite travel iron (that works surprisingly well!) - but we just got our docs yesterday and I read in there that for safety reasons, irons and steamers may be used in the laundry rooms only....?

Anyone have any experience with this?

We've on 5 cruises and have had to do laundry on each one and the times we used the washers/dryers, we've never seen anyone using the iron, however, we've never brought one with us so I can't give you any heads up on that......Andy

Okay, True Confession:

We brought a small travel iron and used it to touch up a few things in the cabin. We used the "sitting area" table as the ironing board, with a towel over top of it.

We did NOT try to iron things from scratch, but we ironed those things at home and touched them up, only. No problem.

There were some things we knew would Not travel well (e.g. a taffeta dress that is not mine, but the DW's). We did not even try to iron them ahead of time, but just sent them out for pressing the first day on the ship.

Ship board pressing was very reasonable, at exactly 1/2 the rate for laundering the same item. We sent three things out and the total cost was about $5.
