We will be in Disney the 12th-19th of August--should we be getting Travel insurance and if so, where would be a good place to purchase it? Do we only have a certain time limit from date of deposit to get full coverage, thanks in advance, Ilisa

Did you buy a non refundable plane ticket and/or hotel package?

Then yes you should go ahead and get trip insurance. It is usualy not that much money for a bit of piece of mind that if the week before something comes up or something crazy like another hurricane, that you can get your money back or reschedule with out loosing a boat load of dough.

If you are driving yourself and have a room only reservaion that can be cancel up to a few days before, then don't worry about it.

Try this site it is recominded by mousesavers.

Have a great trip! :wave2:

I just bought insurance on our points and our flight. I went through Disney's affiliate and it came to a couple hundred dollars. But we have 8 in our party and it will be for a 10 day stay at Saratoga so hence the larger amount. I felt the price is not that much for piece of mind (agreeing with mkoatmyw). After reading so many threads on illness and knowing we will have 4 kids under the age of 7, we thought it best to recoup our money if something should happen. The time of the year makes a big difference to us also. For us, we are flying out of Montana in the winter..anything could go wrong to add to a delay. Have wonderful trip! :woohoo:

We never get Travel Insurance....it doesn't cover hurricanes, so we don't see the point.

DEFINITELY not true! The whole point of trip insurance is to cover unexpected events like a hurricane, death in the family, major illness that prevents you from traveling, etc.

I highly advise buying insurance when you purchase a cruise or vacation package during hurricane season. Room-only reservations can usually be rebooked with little or no penalty, but you stand to lose a lot of money if a hurricane causes you to miss out on your cruise or package, or makes it impossible to fly in or out of your destination.
