Travel Insurance for Ex Breast Cancer Victim

Hi All,

I'm trying to get some costs for travel insurance for my mum who is 65. She had breast cancer 5 years ago. Does anybody know of any companies that will accept her?

I know this may be a sensitive subject for some people, so please feel free to PM me if you prefer.

Hi Bekki,

If you go on the 'Bacup' site you should be able to find a list of insurance companies to try

You say your Mum was diagnosed 5 years ago.
If this is 5 years with no further treatment, other than follow ups, I'd imagine that she would have little trouble getting cover.
The 'magic' figure often appears to be 1 year

Shop around and don't be talked into parting with a ridiculous sum of money for cover - try Saga and Age Concern

I'd advise you to try the standard companies first - when we rang the 'specialist' companies for DH they wanted 'silly' money

We got cover with Age Concern for £650 less than the 'specialist' companies were asking!

Following advice from the Disboards I enquired at our local brokers about Fortis. They covered my DH who takes regular medication and DS who had major heart surgery at birth. All they wanted to know was any treatment in the last 12 months (regular check ups did not count) we have paid £98.55 for the four of us for two weeks. The brokers told me the local TA's all go to them for their insurance for holidays.
