Where is the best place to get a good deal on a 3 night or so trip? Does day of the week matter - we can go any day. Hotel recommendations? I want to do it cheap - so I have more money to gamble.

We have stayed at the Venetian via Priceline for $99/night. It is a large, beautiful property with several fabulous restaurants. Check out biddingfortravel.com for priceline guidance. A website that gives some interesting reviews and lots of cost saving info is cheapovegas.com. There is a Vegas discussion board called Las Vegas Talk where you can get more info. How "cheap" did you want to go?

We go to Vegas all the time - on the cheap. I'd stay away from Circus Circus and their properties. They are not all that nice in comparison to what else is available. You'll definitely want to go Sunday through Thursday for the best room rates. Avoid large conventions, which drives the rates up. I recommend Treasure Island. They often run great deals in the $49 to $69 range that often include room upgrades and free buffets. This is a very nice, centrally located, strip property. Monte Carlo is also a nice choice. Go to each hotel's website that you are interested in, and check the promotions pages. There are very good deals out there. You can find a list of convention dates at http://www.a2zlasvegas.com
