Hi,
Does anyone have experience (good or bad) with using the American Express Travel Funds Card at WDW? Can it be used at the ATM's in the parks? My daughter does not have an ATM card and wants to use this, rather than carry a lot of cash.....Thanks in advance for your help.

The fees on this thing are HORRID! Something like $3 everytime you make a withdrawal.
I would just buy travelers checks

If you decide to use one of them, there is a map of all ATM's that take it on the americanexpress.com website. There are ATM's that accept it all over WDW, including resorts. The card is $14.95 and there is a $300 minimum. The website can answer some of your questions. I did not see anything about a $3 fee, but I wasn't looking either. I would imagine that there would be a fee though because even with my debit card there is one.

I was just checking out the traveler's card on American Express. I found nothing about a fee when used at retail merchants. There is a fee (Just like everything else) to use it at an ATM. I think we are going to use it for our Disney trip. I just need to find out how many shops at the world accept AE.

The $2.50 fee for ATM withdrawals--just like most of the banks charge. There is no charge when you are purchasing an item.

I was thinking about these too instead of travelers checks...does pretty much everything at WDW that accepts credit cards take AE?

Thanks!

On the AE website it says that if you order one online you will get a companion airline ticket too. Might be something to check into if you are considering the card.

I went to American Express's website to check out the free air companion ticket offer...I had a heck of time finding the information, but finally found an FAQ page and it said you can only get the free companion ticket when the one ticket purchased is $349 or more. If the ticket is less than $349 BEFORE tax and fees you can't use the offer! -- How ridiculous is that?!

Here's the FAQ question from the site:

Q. How do you qualify for the Complimentary Companion Airfare?

A. To qualify for the Complimentary Companion Airfare, you must purchase one roundtrip airline ticket from Airline Promotions, Inc. (API) at a published fare that is not less than $349.00 (9/15-1/15) or not less than $379.00 (1/16-9/14) - before the application of any taxes. Fares before taxes that are less than these minimums do not qualify for this offer. Passengers are responsible for all taxes, fees and surcharges for both airfares. Both travelers must have identical itineraries.

Anyway, if you are still interested or want to read about it, the address is www.americanexpress.com/companionair
