travel from buffalo/carry on liquids question

I know i can bring a 1 quart ziplock bag, but i have no idea what size that is, anyone convert 945ml?(which i think is the quart) but am wondering if i need to go to a smaller baggie?

I used the large freezer bags by Ziploc and had no problem. I read that they are picky over the writing on the bags, so I used a few clear no-name ones and a couple Ziplocs. Everything went through just fine with these.

I flew out of BUF last Thursday and returned on Tuesday of this week. Neither time was I asked to take my little ziploc out of my carry-on bag (the correct size bag is a medium). My impression was that because I had a child with me I was passed through with less concern. I was not made to pass through the explosive testing and they told me to walk through the metal detector with my DD.
