On our next trip my family is planning to stay in WDW for 5 days and then travel down to VB for 4 days. We have to fly in to Orlando and we are going to use the ME to get to WDW, but I'm not sure about how to get to VB. Do you rent a car or use a Mears shuttle? If you rent a car, are there any companies that will bring the car to the resort or do I have to go back to the airport? Also, can I return the car at the Orlando airport? I'm sure others have done this before. Help! Thanks!

I believe the easiest way to get to Vero Beach will be driving your own car. It is a 2 - 2 1/2 hour trip.

Alamo has a rental site on Walt Disney World property at the Car Care Center near the Magic Kingdom. Give them a call and they will send a shuttle to your resort and take you to their rental office. I am sure you could return the car to their rental site near or at the Orlando Airport.

Enjoy both of your vacations.

I agree-do a 1-way rental.
Therre are other car rental agencies that are based at some of the hotels in Downtown Disney and also at Swan/Dolphin-most provide a shuttle pick-up or they just a car pick-up. I have also used Disney to get to the Swan/Dolphin or walked from DD to one of the hotels w/a car rental-that is how I found out that they had a shuttle svce-the girls said,"oh you didn't have to walk all the way here"--now you tell me!

Enjoy

The easiest way is a rental however you can hire a car service approx $150 each way to VB and back to the airport. This would work too if you are not up for the ride... however, I think you will find that you want the car in VB to explore and visit one of my local favs.... Squid Lips!!! :cool1:

Having done this I think you are in reverse. VB first then WDW. I know it seems like the right thing to do to end your vacation by resting but why not end your stay closer to the airport instead of 2 1/2 hours away?

Also VB is a quaint little community without much to do. Since none of the rooms have a beach view (unless you get a grand villa) it is going to seem like a letdown after WDW. The beach is only okay.

If you have thoughts of using the marina let me warn you that boating around that lagoon is not very much fun at all. It is too easy to get stuck on the sand and you have to be contantly on guard for manatees. For some reason (I complained vigorously) they do not give you a paddle to get off the sand and it is nearly impossible to get yourself back into a pontoon boat without a ladder.

Overall I felt that VB was okay but not great. The sunrise over the ocean was the highlight. When we went they had not allowed cell phone towers so we kept having to drive back into town several times a day to check email and voicemail.

The car service would be more relaxing. I did not enjoy that drive in the least.

Which car services go to VB?

There is no shuttle to get to VB. As others have said, your options are to either rent a car or hire a car service.

My suggestion is to rent a car. The resort is not close to restaurants, shopping and groceries.

Have a wonderful trip to VB. All of our trips there (except the one where TS Faye rained on us for a week straight :sad2:) have been relaxing. It's a nice antidote to the hustle and bustle of WDW and everyday life.

We rent a car from budget. (its located in one of the hotels near DTD). Budget will pick you up from your hotel and bring you to the car rental office for free--however you must make a reservation (you just usually call the day before). VB is about 2 -2.5 hours from Disney and isn't a bad ride. We go east until 95 then south.

VB is very nice!! We try to go every trip just to get a piece of the beach. We usually stay in the inn and just love the garden view inn rooms. The 1st time we went we had an ocean view and I got sick from the constant motion of the waves. The garden view rooms have a great view of the gorgeous sunset!!!!!

There isn't a lot to do there besides the beach, pool, tennis courts, kids activities, mini golf, ping pong, archery, basketball, bike riding, shuffle board, camp fires, and did I say beach. The beach is very nice. There are houses to the left and its really nice to walk the beach as it is very clean.

In the VB area they have lots of restaurants (about 10-15 minutes south) and an outlet mall (close to 95).

Its a great way to destress from a disney vacation. EnJOY!!!
