We have adr for New Year's Eve !!!!
We have never been there before and are exciting to try a new place.
Has anyone tried the steak and if so was it good ???

We've eaten there and were reasonably happy with the Italian food. I was surprised at how good it was. Not up to the standards of Il Mulino next door at the Swan but still good.

Having said that, if I was looking for steak I'd go across the lagoon to Yachtsman. Haven't actually tried their steak but when I want a steak I go to a place that specializes in steak.

Please report back on how you liked it.

I'm definitely a fan of Trattoria al Forno but I wouldn't necessarily go there for a good steak. The Italian dishes I've eaten have been pretty darn delicious and I look forward to eating there again. I highly recommend the Polpette Gigante, any of the pizzas, the lasagna and the braised short rib Bolognese. If you do go with the steak, I'd love to hear what you think of it!

We haven't had the steak but agree their Italian dishes are delicious! The Polpette Gigante, the chicken parm and for dessert the hazelnut gelato... Yum!! Enjoy!

Our daughters had the steak there on our trip this past June and liked it better than the steaks we had at Yachtsman's, California Grill and Le Cellier! In fact, they begged us to go back this January specifically for the steaks! My wife and I had more traditional Italian fare, but the girls swear by their steaks! :-)

1) One of our guests thought the steak "was above average"
2) My own review follows.
3) I thought the place better than Kouzzina, but not grate.

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Antipasti Cured Meats
. . . entree:.. Pork Chop ala Milanese
. . . dessert:. Cannoli

NOTE1: This eatery replaced the Cat Cora eatery. It offers both breakfast and dinner menus. The noise level is much too loud and almost unbearable to the ear - definitely makes it tough to have decent conversations with tablemates. We had hoped the sound issues that made Kouzzina so unenviable would be resolved, but no such luck.

NOTE2: We had a party of six, so we sampled quite a few dishes. Nothing really stuck out to our dining companions. We did enjoy the mixed-cured meats in the Antipasti, which is something one sees rarely any more. My Pork Chop was pretty decent and well above average. The ending of the meal was a nice Cannoli with chocolate and Pistachio Cream.

NOTE3: I thought ANOTHER Italian eatery was simply too much, and I think I was right. Even if some of the pizza is unique, the other menu items would not make me visit again too soon. Maybe if we sampled more of the entries from the pretty good Wine List, we would not have noticed the mediocre food. Overall, a strictly average experience.

We went there this past August and loved it. It was one of the best meals I this past trip. I would go back here in a heartbeat.

Thanks everyone for the great replies.
My DH and I love Italian but our DD's are carnivores and love a good steak.
We have an early dinner for New Year's Eve and we can't wait !!!!!

We ate there in Sept and it was wonderful! The food was great, the atmosphere was good, service was good. Ate there again a few weeks ago, and looking forward to eating there again in two weeks!
I have yet to find a restaurant in WDW that isn't noisy. Ate at Narcoossee and it was on the noisy side. Same with Artist Point..where service and the food was mediocre at best!!! That one was a huge surprise since we've always had a terrific meal there!
I didn't find it difficult to have a conversation at all. Our servers were terrific...on the ball and very 'present' without hovering. Like all Disney restaurants, the seating/tables tend to be a bit close together.
Really looking forward to our next meal there!!
