My husband and I would like to eat breakfast here, but we are not interested in the character meal. I had read previously that you could order off the menu, but be seated in a non-character area. Has anyone had any recent experience doing this? Thanks!

Yes I did it twice 12/30 and 12/31/18. You go inside and ask for standby non character breakfast. They will take your name and we only waited 5-8 mins. There is a bathroom near that area if needed.

We tried both the inside and outside areas. Weather permitting the outside was better.

Thanks for asking-I also was wondering about this during my trip in September.

We do this most trips (we stay at BWV), most recently for a stay in February.

Do they charge less for breakfast if you're seated in a non-character area?

This is one of our favorite character meals and it's good as far as breakfast goes, but I'd never pay that much for breakfast alone.

The a la carte breakfast prices end up about 60% of the character meal if you order the same amount of food. It would be a little less if you forgo the pre-meal pastries and/or the orange juice.

Don't mean to drag this thread out of the dungeon but I have this exact question for our trip in August. the little guy is only going to be about 16 months old and i don't think he would really recognize the "people" characters like he does the "costumed" characters at the other breakfasts we have gone to, so we just want to eat regular breakfast there (we are staying at beach club and the food sounds awesome). We made reservations, but should I cancel them? It sounds like the non-character is standby only and my reservation would be pointless.

Thanks!

I would do the standby. That way you can go over when YOU are ready and not worry about a time. There is lots of room while waiting for him to run around outside too.

You will want to cancel your ADR as that will be for the character meal. Just go up to the podium when you arrive and tell the hostess you want to be seated in the non-character area. They have tables both inside (a separate room) and outside. The food is good, and much cheaper than eating at the character meal.

Now I’m *really* dragging this out of the dungeon as a previous poster said. :)

Is this still possible?

Is there a menu for non-character meal food options or is it the same exact options?

I don't know what the character breakfast consists of, but I do know that when I stopped in to inquire about it, they let me look at a menu. At the time, I thought them menu looked kind of fancy, not like basic bacon and eggs type stuff, so I didn't go-went to Ale and Compass and had a terrible experience. Hope I can correct my mistake and go to Trattono (?) this coming trip.

Definitely give this breakfast a try. We found the food to be far better than the standard powdered eggs and paper thin bacon you find all over the rest of the property. I just wish I had known that we didn't have to do the character part of it because we laid down a cool $100 for 2 people last year...for BREAKFAST! That's idiotic!
