Trattoria ADR at 8:45, outdoors?

I just called for ADRs for our trip this weekend, and asked about the Trattoria. The CM said "Indoor or out?" I asked if you could see the ELP from the outdoor seating and he said yes, and offered 8:00 or 8:40. I took the 8:40 outdoor, thinking it would be great timing for the parade.

So now that I'm thinking more about it, I have two questions:

1) Is the 8:40 seating too late? I think I should switch to the 8:00, and we can just eat slowly?

2) Does the fact that the CM asked if I wanted indoors or outdoors mean we are guaranteed outdoor, and if so, do all outdoor seats there have a view of the parade?

I haven't seen the ELP since I was a kid, so it will be a highlight of my trip!

We just ate there last night! We had an ADR for 6:20 - outside and we had to wait almost 30 minutes. It was pretty crowded, they were taking walk ups, but telling them the wait was 45 minutes. Food was good (the Chicken Panini sandwich is really, really good), the service was okay. The tables along the edge are perfect for viewing the parade, but I think 8:40 is too late for dinner seating. If you have to wait over ten minutes to be seated, the parade will have started. If you have ressies at 8:00, you will be finishing up your meal as the parade goes by. If it were me, I would order a second glass of wine or a dessert and coffee and sit back, relax and enjoy the EP . It is a great spot, I agree. Good luck, whatever you decide.

Thanks for advice! I called back today and got a reservation for 7:40. We will eat at a glacial pace and try to stretch it out so we are seated for the parade. If we have to wait at all, it should be perfect!

I remember seeing the ELP when I was a kid, and it's the first time I will see it since then!

Glad you changed it, I agree with lulubelle! You never know how long you will have to wait to be seated!!

One question for both of you, I thought you had to buy the package with the seating for EP if you ate there? Is that for somewhere else? If so, why would anyone buy the package meal for EP viewing? Thanks

This isn't the package as far as I know... just a regular ADR. I didn't have to give a credit card number or anything. I'm assuming it's just a normal dinner?

That's what I thought, but then I dont' know why they would sell a package when just anyone can eat at the parade time!! Just being curious!

Well, the EP did not run on Sunday. But Andrea, you are right about the dinner package. I forgot about that. Maybe they discontinued it? Laralyn, are you sure the parade is running that night? I don't think I would do the package (it is expensive) because there are many wonderful places to view the parade comfortably and with a great view. Anyway, on a nice warm evening, it is lovely to sit outside and eat dinner there as the sun sets.

According to the Disneyland website, the ELP is that evening (this Friday) at 8:45. Maybe there are different areas on the patio? Or maybe the special seating is for the Winery's nicer restaurant and the Trattoria just has regular seating?

Don't know!! Maybe the seating is at the Golden Vine but I find it silly that the patios are both right there and then they can charge people too! I know they still do the package, I just saw an advertisement for it! Oh well, maybe you can't sit on the very outside edge during parade time unless you buy the package???
