Hello!
I was wondering if there was any transportation from the Orlando airport (MCO) to Port Canaveral. Does Disney Express work for the cruise line or just the parks? Thank you all!

Jess

Magical Express is only for the parks. Disney does have transportation to the Port, but you must pay for those transfers.

DCL has their own Buses that provide transportation to and from MCO to the Port (and the Resorts). There is a charge for the transportation.

If you are planning on using the transportation from MCO to the port, I recommend you actually try to fly in the day before. You can stay at one of the area hotels, then use the free hotel shuttle to get back to the airport in the morning, and then use DCL transportation to get to the port. I recommend this because you don't want weather or mechanical problems to delay your flight and potentially cause you to miss the ship! Also, if you fly in the day before you can get a relaxing nights sleep, and get to the port relaxed and ready to cruise!

On our last cruise we stayed at the Hyatt located inside MCO. It is very convenient, but a bit expensive. You leave your luggage outside your room in the morning and it is picked up and sent to the ship. You meet DCL reps in the lobby and they escort you right to the bus.

Mark, This was exactly what we are planning on doing for our cruise Oct. 2006, we hope to use my sister's Amex rewards to pay for the room. If we order the DCL transfers with our cruise package we can just leave the bags outside our room and they pick them up? I posted this question earlier but never got an answer. TIA :wave2:

Yes, when you check in just let them know at the desk that you are a DCL passenger. They will give you an envelope with instructions on what to do with your luggage, how to fill out your cruise documents, and where/when to meet the DCL reps.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you all! Well lets say that we leave on the same day and get to MCO, do we go down to where Mears is and reserve a spot then, or should we call ahead?

Thank you!
Jessica

If you fly in the day of your Cruise. You will see DCL reps in the terminal. They will ask you what flight you came in on, and will make sure your luggage is retrieved for you and sent on to the ship. I believe you can always pay for the transportation at the airport, but it's probably easier if you call ahead.

We are flying in the day before and staying at the MCO Hyatt and we have purchased the transfers from the airport to the port. I hadn't realized they would pick up our luggage at our room so thank you for that tip!

If we get on the first shuttle out, will we be one of the first people to check in at the port? I am anxious to get onboard and get some reservations lined up so waiting for the shuttle (rather than driving ourselves and getting to be as early as we like) is a bit of a concern for me.

Thanks for any advice!

Yes, you will be one of the first ones at the port. I believe the first shuttle left around 9:30. We were on the second shuttle which left around 10:00. I was surprised at how crowded the terminal was when we arrived, and several CM's made the same comment. It was a spring break cruise, so lots of people from the Northeast were there. I assume many flew in the day/night before.

Is this the Disney shuttle that is $30/per person? What shuttle stops at the Hyatt MCO and leaves around 9:30am - 10:00am. I have read that that Disney shuttles don't arrive until the early afternoon.

Yes it's the Disney Shuttle. They have DCL reps waiting in the Lobby for Hyatt guests. In the morning you check in with the DCL reps, and they assign you a bus. Then they will call your bus, once everyone gathers they walk you down to the bus. The bus is not in the usually loading/unloading area, I think it was the enterance to the Hyatt. The bus was waiting in the circle, it's only for Hyatt guests.
