Like many other people out there i am a huge disney fan (thanks to my b/f and his family) and this summer, we wanted to try something different, so of course we chose Universal Studios:thumbsup2 . However, i am not familiar with US resorts or parks. I know that disney has magical express to transport you from the airport to the hotel but does Universal offer something similar to magical express OR do i need to book something on my own? Also, if Universal does not have a service similar to magical express would you suggest renting a car for the week i am down there? Any advice/suggestions would sure be helpful :goodvibes

Universal does not have anything similar to Magical Express. You will need to find your own transportation from the airport to the resorts.

We always rent a car. I have no idea why, as once we get there, we park it in the garage, pay our nightly parking fee and then retrieve it when we are ready to leave. The parks and resorts are well arranged in that you can walk to everything. If you don't want to walk to the parks, there are great boats (what us lazy folks take) and a bus system that is very efficient.

The longest walk is from the Portofino - about 15 minutes to Universal and a couple of minutes longer to go to the other side of City Walk for IOA. Royal Pacific is about 7 - 10 minutes from the parks and Hard Rock about 5 minutes. All the walks are on well-lit and landscaped paths, so you never need to cross a road.

So, unless you are going to be visiting other places or want to shop or eat off-site, a car is not really necessary.
