We do not have a CC (just one tied to checking )and really do not want to tie up $300-$500 in a deposit and have someone poke around in our credit history just to get a car rental for one day..... Any ideas out there to get transportation form DLH to the closest beach? My family (except for dh) has never seen the ocean and we missed out on doing this last visit. Just a day trip on a Sunday and would consider paying about $100 at most if there are any tour busses in the area, or even a pricey taxi/shuttle, for 5 of us to go. Anyone have experience w those gray line tours? how much do they cost? Nothing listed on their web site... Or would a city bus be better? (2 adults, 6,9,15 - patient kids and have used long bus rides before- they like the adventure of it!)
Thanks!

I don't know the cost of any tour buses, taxi's, etc., but I can remember taking the "city" bus to the beach many times as a teen. It wouldn't be nearly as convient as a car, but lot's cheaper and no parking problems. OCTA is the bus system for Orange County, and they have a web site with routes and times if you're interested. I haven't been on them in some time (some time last century), but I think it's $2-$3 for a day pass. They usually run less frequently on Sunday's, but it would be an option.
