Here is the scenario. We are arriving in LA (plane tickets not yet purchased), likely at LAX. We need to get to Disneyland from LAX, then after our time at Disneyland is up, we need to get from Disneyland to the LA Convention Center for Star Wars Celebration IV and the downtown area. What would you recommend for transportation options? Any help is appreciated!

We're in kind of a similar situation in that we're going from LAX to Disneyland, staying for a couple of days, and then heading to DH's convention downtown.

What we're doing is taking the Disneyland Express shuttle from LAX to Disneyland and back again. I believe the shuttle is $28 per person round trip. Once the return shuttle drops us off at the airport, we're getting a cab to our hotel downtown.

From what I've been able to find out, airport taxis will go from LAX to Downtown for a flat fare of $38 per car, plus airport & fuel surcharges. For DH and I, that the same price as getting van shuttle tickets and a heck of a lot more convenient!

Depending on how much driving you're going to be doing, renting a car is also an option. With the cost of gas and parking, it's cheaper for us to use shuttles/taxis (plus I can't stand driving in LA), but you might find the convenience worth the price.

Guest services usually have coupons for a guaranteed rate on the trips to the airport. From the airports it is regulated by the city (or airport I'm not sure) but going back isn't and this is where cab drivers get you. Don't show the drivers the coupon until the end of the trip to the airport and only if it's over the guaranteed price. Our trip from the airport at long beach to PP was $36 on the way back I was given a coupon from guest services for $42 but the fair was $41 so I just paid that plus tip (Although I made it clear to the driver I knew both ways and I told him which to take us.. (city streets way, not freeway). I have heard reports of people being charged up to $55 for the trip back to the long beach airport so be cautious.
