What is the best way to get from the airport to the cruise ship. Rent a car or take the shuttle. We are a family of 5

We did the Disney cruise two years ago and the shuttle was great. We did the land and sea combo trip and were at the parks first. The day we were to board the ship, the cruise desk at the Beach Club told us that we could pick up the shuttle at the hotel, or enjoy some time at AK, and a shuttle would depart from there also. We opted for the AK morning and spent a few hours there before boarding the Disney Cruise buses for the port. The ride was about an hour, and there was a movie playing on the bus. It was really convenient, and we didn't have to worry about a car. Hope this helps.

When we did the cruise, we flew in the night before, stayed at the Hyatt, and had Fl Tours take us to the port the morning of the cruise. We got there before the crowds and it was a breeze!

I keep seeing everyone staying at the Hyatt.....I guess my first question is which airport did you fly into and the second would be which Hyatt did you stay at?

Thanks!

We flew into MCO and stayed at the Hyatt right in the airport. Just take the hotel elevator up to the front desk and check in! We decided to do this based on advice from these boards and it was a good thing we did. We were delayed taking off from NYC for 5 hours due to heavy rain (and it was summer!). If that had happened the morning of the cruise we would have missed the cruise.

We had Disney transport our luggage to the port. Only had to leave our bags out the night before with the cruise tags on. Not sure if you can still do this if you take your own transportation to the port. When we did our cruise in summer 2004, it was allowed.

Fl Tours picked us up right at the hotel entrance the next morning and we were on our way! Got to the port before the bus crowds and were able to check in quickly and enjoy the cruise terminal before boarding the ship. It really worked out perfectly for us!

We did something similar in January 04. That's when I met one of my favorite drivers before he was with Sunray. If you're more than 2 people, it's usually cheaper to use a car service. Plus, you can schedule the time to get their earlier if that's somthing you want.

There were 9 of us, flying in to MCO on different flights. We all met up at baggage claim, then went up to the Hyatt together. My mother was able to get 3 seperate rooms with her senior discount. Then, we also had a couple Hyatt certificates that I got from mypoints.com

We kept our luggage with us, we got to the airport around 1 or 2pm. We checked in; went swimming (outdoors, very cool); cleaned up; went into the airport food court for dinner; back to the room to fill out cruise documents; back to the food court for dessert and shopping. Got up in the morning; went to Krispy Kreme for breakfast; (remember to bring your room key or send it with the teenagers if they go to get coffee. You can't get back up in the elevators without it!!) packed up; and met our driver out front at 9amish. Got to the Cruise Terminal and Disney collected our luggage, whatever we wanted them to take and was tagged. Then, we went in, made it through security, checked in, and was the 4th family in line. We took turns saving our spots in line and watching our carryons while the others explored the terminal, grabbed a coffee and muffin, whatever. The characters came out to greet people and the kids watched tv. The time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to board.

Cheers!

rodsimon,

I would highly recommend looking into renting a car or using a towncar service. I have taken the bus, and although it is fine there are a few drawbacks.

The buses do not leave until around 12. We did not get to the terminal until around 1:30. If you are trying to get any ressies, you may not get what you want. Yes, I know you can do some on line, but most ressies are closed out very early on-line. You can still get them when you board if this is the case if you arrive early enough.

The lines can get long and holding places gets a little old at this point.

With a service or renting, you can be at the port early and no lines.

You can enter the terminal around 10:30 and the last time we were on the ship around 11:30. We will be hiring a towncar service. This is what I have found for the 3 of us.

Tiffany Towncar, Cartier, Orlando (towncar I think) and Happy limo are $105 for resort to port.

Happy traveling.
