Hi! We are going to Disney World for the first time next month and are wondering how much time we should allow to get TO each park, and then get INTO each park (is there a line outside to get in?), in the morning. We are staying at the Beach Club Resort. I know we can walk to Epcot in about 10 minutes. (Specifically, my 10 year old wants to know how long it will take to get from the hotel to the Rise of the Resistance ride!!)

There’s a whole subforum on here dedicated to transportation. I highly suggest you check that out.

Regarding the specific question from your 10 yo: You’ll need to get from the Beach Club to Disney Hollywood Studios. You have three options. 1) Walk from BC to DHS, approximately 20 minutes depending on your pace. 2) Boat from the YC/BC dock to the DHS dock, also about 20 minutes plus up to 15 minutes or so waiting for the boat. The boat will stop at the Swan/Dolphin dock enroute. 3) Walk over to the Epcot International Gateway to catch the Skyliner, ride that to the Caribbean Beach Resort transfer station, switch to the DHS Skyliner to complete the trip. Probably slowest and the Skyliner may not be running between the IG and CBR early in the day when Epcot has not yet opened.

Walking is the most predictable, since you won’t be waiting for a boat or the Skyliner. Also once at DHS, you’ll have to deal with the entrance gate security, the entrance gate itself, and the walk through the theme park to get to the ROTR ride itself. It’s a fair hike to that area of the park, but I have no idea how long it might take an anxious and energetic 10 yo. We’re senior citizens and all our in-park walking is at a leisurely stroll. I walk quite a bit on my own, usually at about 17-18 minutes per mile pace, and my time estimates in the previous paragraph reflect that when I’ve walked the route on my own. DW never walks to DHS (we normally stay at the Boardwalk Villas) so the boat time reflects that experience (the boat from BW to DHS stops at YC/BC and S/D enroute, so lots of experience).

We've stayed at BC often, and love it there. You're right - about a 10 minute walk (max) to EPCOT. Ralph&Pam laid out the trip to HS very well, so I don't have anything to add there! If you're going to either of the other parks, it's about a 10-15 minute bus ride to either MK or AK. Just a note - if ROTR is a focus for your 10 year-old, you might want to consider the option to pay an extra fee the day you're heading to HS and purchase an Individual Lightning Lane at 7AM. You will not need to purchase Genie+ to do that, you can select a specific return time window, and you won't have to rush over first thing in the morning to wait in line..... Depending on the time of day you go to the parks, other than park opening, there's rarely an extended line to get into the park. As a guest of a Disney resort, you are eligible to enter any of the 4 parks 30 minutes before normal park opening, if that might interest you - but again, crowds are likely to be heavier around that early time. Enjoy!

Thank you for all this information! Sounds like walking is the best option. Got our best walkin' shoes ready!

For the parks you have to bus to (MK/AK), Disney suggests 90 min to get from Resort to inside park. While it doesn't often take that full time, it's a very good guide to use. You never know if you'll just miss a bus or walk up to one arriving. You never know if there will be lines to get in for security or turnstiles, if you'll encounter a blip when scanning in and need extra assistance, etc. So plan 90 min, and enjoy extra time if you make it there earlier.
