We are coming to DL for Half Marathon weekend -- will be there 8/28 - 9/2 -- and staying at the Anaheim Hilton. We will be going to a Dodgers game on 9/1 and was wondering about transportation options to the game. We are not planning to rent a car for the entire stay, but would not be opposed to renting a car just that day since there is a car rental stand at the hotel, but we are open to whatever is easiest/best. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. Will be myself, DH, and DD15 and DD12.

GO DODGERS!!! ;););)

Los Angeles proper (where beautiful Dodgers Stadium is located) is not close to the Anaheim, Disney area. Personally, I would suggest renting a car for the 1st and 2nd. I have stayed at the Anaheim Hilton and remember that they do have a car rental service there, Enterprise maybe? According to Google Maps, Dodgers Stadium is 32 miles from the Hilton. I would allow at least an hour to get there. It looks like that game starts at 5:10 pm, I would be leaving the hotel no later than 3:30 pm. There is also a special giveaway that day, a Josh Beckett No Hitter pin and people will probably be there early to get it! The reason I say rent the car from 9/1 thru 9/2 is that the traffic out of Dodgers Stadium after a game is brutal!! I would allow at least 90-120 minutes to return to Anaheim. Since the game is at 5:10 pm, it will probably end around 8:30-9:00 pm ish. If you're able to get back to Anaheim before midnight, awesome, but I personally think it would be better to keep it overnight, just to be safe.

Regarding public transportation, there is the Dodgers Stadium Express! The Dodgers Stadium Express is a bus service ($1.50/each person, each way) that picks up fans at Union Station. There is an Amtrak station at 2150 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim, about 3 miles from the Anaheim Hilton. (This is near Angels Stadium if you are familiar?) You could pick up a cab from the hotel and head to the Anaheim Station! According to the Amtrak site, the train ride is about 45 minutes and $15.00/each person, each way and it seems like there is a train every 60-120 minutes

Hope you enjoy the game - have a Dodger Dog for me! Dodgers Stadium is breathtaking! If you're interested, the Dodgers do an amazing stadium tour, you get to see two World Series trophies (1965 and 1988) and countless Gold Glove and Cy Young Awards. As well as go in the dugout club and watch batting practice.

I'd skip Amtrak for a 5:00 game. The return trains are 7:30, which will probably be before the end of the game, or 10:10, which would be a long wait late at night. There will likely be heavy Memorial Day traffic both ways, and as PP said, giveaway days are popular. Also, take out the extra insurance on the rental car. It's been a few years, but my car was vandalized twice in the parking lot. There's also lots of broken glass and stuff that a rental company would ding you for. I suppose another option would be driving to Union Station, paying to park there and taking the shuttle. If you go early there are a few things that are walking distance from Union Station. Olvera St and Philippe for French dips.

Good point. Unfortunately, you never know what could happen in those parking lots :sad2: especially one that is not very well lit like Dodgers Stadium..
