Transportation question

We are staying on property for the first time in December at CBR What is the best way to get to MK? Does it make sense to go to EPCOT and take the monorail? Or is the bus a better option? I know we have to ride a ferry or the monorail once we get to MK so I wasn't sure if it was better to just start out on it

If you take the bus it drops you off right at the front gates at MK, If you bus to Epcot, get on the monorail and the you'll either have to switch monorails or hop on the ferry. I would think the bus would be the way to go. But I've never stayed at CBR so maybe someone who has would be a better person to answer this.

You can find a lot of information for transportation, on the Transportation board.

I always go directly to the park first and then hop on the monorail - to check to make sure it is running. They do go down from time to time, and it also takes a lot of time in the morning to transfer from bus to park to monorail.

If you want to do transfers, I would do them in the afternoon or evening on your way back to the resort.

Most direct will be to take the bus straight from CBR to MK. It will drop you right at the front gates (well, at the bus stop) with no need for ferry or monorail.

If you take the bus to Epcot first and take the monorail, you'd need to transfer monorails at the TTC and/or transfer to a ferry. Sounds like a lot of travel and transfers, but if you want to "see the sights" or just like riding the transportation I suppose it's an option.

CBR has direct buses to each of the parks, really no need to go roundabout unless you like riding.

The easiest and fastest route would be to take the bus directly to MK. It will probably take approximately 15 minutes to get there and you will be dropped off right at the gates. If you opt to take the bus to EPCOT, you will have quite a walk until you get to the monorail entrance, have to go through bag check, the monorail will take approximately 20 minutes to get to TTC. From there you either will have to transfer to the MK monorail or take the ferry across Seven Seas Lagoon to the MK. IMOP, the bus to MK will be better.

Why would they have to go through bag check? I believe the bus from CBR to EPCOT would drop them at the front entrance to EPCOT where they could walk right over to the monorail station. There is no need to enter EPCOT or go through the bag check.

Congrats on your first on property stay, and the Holidays @ WDW are awesome! The transportation system is easy, once you get the hang of it, all resorts have a direct way to get you to all parks (monorail, boat, bus) w/ CBR it's the buses. I haven't stayed @ CBR in years, but each 'island' (aruba, Jamaca, Barbados, etc.) has a bus stop, and the bus will loop around and once it's stopped at each 'island' to pick people up it will head to the park that it's signs say it's going to and drop you off near the front and you just walk into the park. To get back, just leave the park and go to the CBR bus stop - there'll be a station no. for CBR, and you just wait there till the bus comes to take you back to CBR and get off @ your 'island.'
It's hopping from resort to resort that takes a little planning, IME.

Thanks for your great responses and information! I have only been to Disney one other time, not on property. I remembered having to take the ferry, so I just thought we would have to do that again. We will definetly take the bus!

Yes, definitely take the bus from CBR directly to MK, that's what we did when we stayed at CBR and the travel time is not that bad, it can just take a little while stopping at all stops throughout the CBR. Enjoy your trip!!!
