Greetings all!!

As week old rookies to the DVC we are attempting to learn and, if possible, master how all this works so at to make the most of it. Thank goodness for this board!! :)
We are very excitied as we plan our first trip. At this point we can't make up our minds so we are thinking of spitting our week trip between two resorts. My question is how does one transport between 2 resorts if one does not have a car? We will fly down and hit resort # 1 first for a few days then would like to change to resort #2. Yet, we won't have a car so does a family of 5 really take all their luggage and board the public WDW buses and navigate towards resort #2? It may seem odd to see a family and all their luggage board a bus to the ticket center and so on....
Many thanks!! and looking forward to the DVC fun!!

You take your luggage to bell services at resort #1 and they will transfer it to resort #2 for you. When you get to resort #2 you can have it delivered to your room or retrieve it from bell services yourself. It does take a few hours for the luggage to be transferred, so don't expect it to be there if you head right from resort #1 to resort #2.

Also keep in mind you will need to check out of resort #1 no later than 11am and may not get your room at resort #2 until after 4pm. Be prepared to be homeless for 5 hours or more on your transition day. DH and I did a split stay once because we were considering adding on and wanted to check out two different resorts on that trip. We lost a lot of time on the transition day packing up, waiting for the room at resort #2 which wasn't ready until after 4pm, and then unpacking again. It was worthwhile that one time but I hope I never have to do it again, especially if we have groceries as well as all of our luggage to pack up and move.

We split stay all the time. We enjoy staying at different resorts and we use it to take best advantage of the DDP. The luggage is transfered around 3:00 PM each day. We call the Bell Desk for the transfer and have them pick up around 11:00 AM. They will give you the luggage checks and the transfer checks. At the new resort, when we are on our way to the room we call the Bell Desk and they deliver our luggage. We do hand carry medications and the portable bar. :cool1:

As has already been pointed out, Disney will transfer your bags for you. It will take most of the day though. I usually call Bell Services and they pick my bags up by 8 am. Then, I head out to a park. Around mid-day, I head to the new resort, and get checked in. I usually am not able to get into my villa, so I either get a bite to eat, hang by the pool or head to a different park. Then I return, whenever I wish, to my resort and head to my room.
The other thing you can do is have a cab called. Then, you can take your bags with you, and have Bell Services hold them until you get into the next room.

We did the same, but our bags hadn't arrived yet. Fortunately, these boards had informed me that the bags might not arrive until long after we did - so we had swimsuits with us. We were able to check into our room (it was AKL, not DVC) when we arrived, just no bags - changed into swimsuits from our daybags, spent the afternoon in the pool.
