Transportation out of Disney?

Hey there all.

We are planning on staying in a Disney resort hotel for the whole 14 nights of our holiday but would still like to visit other theme parks such as Universal Orlando and Seaworld. Now we know that Disney will not provide organised transport to these places as they obviously want you to remain there (and I don't hold that against them!:lmao:) and we are not hiring a car, so any tips or suggestions on how to get to Universal / Sea World while staying inside the Disney resort?

Thanks very much.

Adam :woohoo:

You can look into a few different options. There is a bus service offered by Mears that will pick you up and bring you to SW or Universal. Others are more well versed on how it works, where it gets you and how much it costs. You could use a car service to pick you up. They will be there when you want, take you where you want and pick you up when you are ready. There are many local car companies on these boards and they are all similar in service and cost. Approximately $93 round trip plus tip per trip. You could also have a taxi bring you. They will be waiting outside your resort (or a call and brief wait away) and then they will be waiting outside the parks for your return trip or you can arrange something with the taxi company to pick you up at an appointed time. I am not sure of taxi costs, but others here will be able to give you an estimate of that as well. Good luck.

My preference has always been to hire a car for the duration of my holiday, but you don't have to - you can hire a car for a few days in the middle, use it to go to Universal, SeaWorld, Kennedy Space Center, and even shopping at the various outlet malls - and to get some snacks and sundries to keep you going for the rest of your trip - and return the car when you're finished.

On-site at WDW, you can hire a car from Alamo or National (both are owned by the same parent company) at Disney's Car Care Center. If you book a car there, they will pick you up from your WDW resort and drive you to the CCC to hire your car, and drive you back to your resort when you return the car a few days later.

You can also hire an Alamo/National car at the Swan and Dolphin hotels, which are in the Epcot area and are reachable by WDW transportation. Hiring a car from here is especially convenient if you happen to be staying at one of the Epcot resorts, since they are all easy walking distance from Swan and Dolphin.

You can sometimes find a car for under $40 total (24 hr. rental) from the Dollar at the regal sun resort...this is right across the street from Downtown Disney (about a 5 min. walk). Check mousesavers.com for coupon codes.

Thank you very much Wog :cool1:

You're welcome. Good luck. If you decide to use a car service you can check discount codes at www.mousesavers.com I am not sure if they provide a discount for local transfers (I know they do for airport transfers), but worth a look. www.happylimo.com is who we used, but the sponsors of this board seem to be pretty good, a gentleman named Edd who is a poster on this board is good, as well as some others. Have a great trip.
