Transportation from VWL

We are taking a long weekend in November and rather than staying in our home resort of BWV, we are thinking about something closer to the MK since that's where we'll spend most of our time. Last year we stayed at GF, which is obviously as convenient as can be, but that's not exactly the most efficient use of points. Am thinking about VWL this year because I understand that they have direct boat service to MK. Can anyone advise me about this -- how long does it take, how often does the boat run, is it the same kind of boat one can take from BWV to Epcot or from GF and Poly to MK, etc? How convenient is transportation to Epcot? If we wanted to eat at the Contemporary or GF, how would we get there? Thanks.

The WL/VWL boat runs about every 20-25 min from our most recent experience which was Oct '06. The ride itself, is only about 10 min to the MK. The boat is very similar to the one at the BWV and the other boardwalk area resorts.
Busses to the other parks from VWL is about the same as other disney resorts. Most busses arrived about every 15-25 min if you just missed one. Once we had just missed an Epcot bus and another came about 10 min later....but the average was about 15-20 min. You could also take the boat to the MK and then take the monorail to the TTC and transfer to the Epcot monorail from there.
Getting to the Contemp is easy. There is a boat at the same dock, that will take you to the Contemp. They are color coded flags to tell which one goes to the MK and which goes to the Contemp. My memory fails me now, but there is a sign there at the dock instructing which is which. Once at the Contemp, just grab the monorail to get to the GF or Poly.

To add to MiaSRN's info... The boat to MK also services Fort Wilderness in a circular fashion. In the morning it goes in WL->MK->FW->WL. In the mid afternoon it switches direction and goes WL->FW->MK->WL. Going to MK in the morning and returning in the evening are the more direct rides. If you are going to MK in the eveining you might want to consider the bus to MK.

When we were there in Feb. there was a bus going directly to MK. We took it a few times since it is very close to the villas and it was cold and the boat would have been stopping at FW at that time of day.

There are 2 smaller boats that go in opposite circular routes between the WL, CR and FW. one going WL->CR->FW->WL and the other WL->FW->CR->WL. These are smaller boats like what the GF and Poly have going to MK.

Going the the CR - hop on the little boat to CR.
Going to the GF - boat or bus to MK then take the little boat to GF (on the way back the monorail would only be one stop to MK) ...or go to the CR as Mia mentioned.
