Im wondering how the bus drivers know you're a resort guest? Ive stayed on property before but can't remember. We need to get from downtown Disney to any of the parks. Can we just hop on a bus or do you have to swipe your room key?

I have never been asked for Resort ID
The Bus service from Downtown Disney goes to the Resorts. You will have to first go to a Resort and then transfer to a Park Bus.

In all the times that we have been they have never once asked to see ID. The transport is for anybody to use if they have a park ticket and I suppose given the volume of people, the majority of which will have park tickets, its just not worth checking and holding up the lines.:) As PP just said, you will have to get to a resort to catch a bus to the park. If you're not in a rush, walk to the boats next to the Rainforest Cafe and catch it Port Orleans French Quarter or Riverside...its a lovely way to travel on the river cruise. Again you won't get asked for ID and even if they did you just show your park tickets...then just hop on the bus there

Thanks! Jw because someone else told me you had to be a resort guest.. Any Idea what time buses start running at dtd?

If you are a resort guest going to a park why are you planning to go to DTD before a park... There is very little open in the mornings... The earliest I've been to DTD is 9ish and that was for breakfast at WPC, and the whole DTD was still a ghost town! Buses after b'fast were few and far between...

When Disney says "resort guest" they are referring to "The Walt Disney World Resort Florida" which is everything there: parks, golf courses, hotel, restaurants, shops, etc. So anyone there as a Disney guest (including park-goers) can use the transportation. However, taking the buses from DTD to eventually get to a park is not very efficient way to travel since you do have to go to a hotel first, and then get in a line for a park bus at the hotel you bus to. The buses from DTD to the resorts don't start running until about 10 AM. The boats to Port Orleans French Quarter start going from DTD to that resort about 11 AM.

Just a heads up--if you're trying to go from DTD to a park, count on it taking a good 90 minutes from the time you get in a resort bus line at DTD until you get to a park...the bus service from DTD is notoriously slow way to travel.
