Transportation from Campground to Poly

I’m hoping someone on the boards has had a similar situation and can help me with some advice.

In September my family and I will be renting an RV and staying at the Fort Wilderness Campground. We will have our own vehicle, but for this situation, I’d rather leave my truck parked at the campground.

This is the scenario; we have a 7:30am reservation at O’hana and want to try to make rope drop at the Magic Kingdom (opening at 9:00). I don’t care for Disney’s transportation (see another post I created about hating Disney Transportation) and I’m not even sure if it would be possible to get to O’hana from the campground using Disney’s transportation at this time of the morning.

I would like to use Uber, but since it is so early in the morning, what do you think my chances are of getting an Uber driver at 7:00am?

Would the Uber driver be able to come to our campsite to pick us up? If not, would we need to go to the guest parking area to be picked up? Could I drive my truck to the parking area, meet with the Uber driver and then enter the campground in the Uber car (using my Magic Band) and pick up the rest of the family at our campsite?

If not Uber, would a taxi make more sense? I always see Taxi’s hanging out in front of other resorts, but I really can’t believe it would be the same at the Campground. Does anyone know if Taxi’s do hang out at the Campground?

The reason I don’t want to drive is so we can be dropped off at the Poly, eat at O’hana’s, take the Monorail to the MK and at the end of the day take the boat back to the campground.

Also, on another semi-related question: what are the child car seat laws in Florida? I have a 3 year old (soon to be 4) that will be riding in the Uber car or taxi. This past September we grabbed a taxi for a short ride from the Poly to Shades of Green. There was a torrential downpour that we did not want to walk in. Anyway, the cab driver never said anything about my wife holding our little guy and I didn’t really give it much thought until later.

Thanks for taking the time to read all my questions!!

I have not used Uber so I do not know if you would have good luck using them that early in the morning. They would not be able to pick up at the campsite so you would have to meet them at the front near check in. You probably could drive your truck up and meet them and then drive back, but then you have to go back and get your truck later. Also, you would need to allow an additional 10 minutes to drive to the campsite and back out of FW.

I have seen taxis at FW before, but they may have done a drop off or had been called for a guest. You can always call for a taxi the night before or check with Guest Services at FW to see if they can arrange one for you.

I am not certain of the car seat laws in Florida so I cannot answer that. I know there have been threads going around about this issue, but it does not pertain to me so I have not followed it very closely.

As for getting to 'Ohana by 7:30 am from FW, it is possible, but you would have to hope for no delays at any junction and that transportation starts on time. The Blue route boat launch that goes between CR, FW, & WL starts at 6:45 am, from there. You could boat to CR, then take the resort monorail to Poly. This still would be pushing it on time though, but could be possible.

There are supposed to be buses running as early as 6:30 am, you could take one of these to MK and then take the resort monorail to Poly if they are running.

I agree with all this, except to add, in regard to the last sentence, that a boat from MK to the Poly may well be faster than the monorail from MK to the Poly, if the boat is running and is at the dock or close to it.

I may be wrong, but I don't think there are buses to MK, even early morning; that's why the boat to CR starts up early. Also, the boat from MK to Poly & GF does not start that early.

You can do this: Take the boat to the Contemporary and then the resort monorail to the Poly. The boat to the Contemporary starts running at 6:45 a.m. and the resort monorail starts running at 7:00. After your day of fun, you can just take the boat from the MK back to FW. There is no bus from FW to MK, but even if there were, you would still have to take the resort monorail to get to the Poly.
